Treo 750 Demo Units Appearing in Cingular Stores
"Seems like we could have the Treo 750 by Christmas or shortly after. Various Cingular stores have started to receive a Treo demo unit. The case is identical to the Vodafone Treo 750, even in color. Only difference being the Cingy branding. This demo unit only means that the release will be soon but we still haven't heard a date yet, just the broad "Q4" time frame. Trust us when we know, you'll know! At least for now you get to enjoy some pics. Click on for the rest of them."
I'm waiting for this unit to come out -- the lack of RAM in the 700w is getting to me, as is Verizon's insane tethering policies. The good news is it appears that it's well on its way to release, although there's still no release date.

No, as it's GSM. The 700wx, which is CDMA, is rumored to be appearing in January (as I think you're already aware.  ).

The article mentions Verizon's tethering policies. Cingular's policy on tethering for Smartphones and PDA's appear to be the same (as they are not "DataConnect" plans).

Furthermore, unlimited plans (except for DataConnect and Blackberry Tethered) cannot be used for any applications that tether the device (through use of, including without limitation, connection kits, other phone/PDA-to-computer accessories, Bluetooth� or any other wireless technology) to laptops, PCs, or other equipment for any purpose.

You can tether all day long with a PocketPC phone and MediaNet $19.99 plan. I have a Cingular 8125 and do it all day long as do many others. They just tell you that you have to purchase the PDA connect plan to make more money, however they will sell you the equipment to use with MediaNet. You may just not be eligible for a cetain rebates, unless you sign up for PDA connet, then cancel it after you get the rebate.

Nope, Not so! At least, not per their licensing agreement.

Well, you are partially right....

Cingular knows many people use MediaNet for tethering and although they could remove you from the plan for doing it, I know of not one person they have donw this to. MediaNet packages are not "intended" (translated, they will not provide official support for it), but it does work very nicely!

I am not sure I agree with your translation of the Cingular TOS. I guess it is kinda like Verizon's V-Cast service. Tethering is a violation of their TOS, and one has to hope that they don't enforce it.
Use it wisely, then you are safe (not legal, just safe). Use it greedily, then you may be hosed.
