SOTI Updates MobiControl
"SOTI have released an update to their Remote Management and Support solution MobiControl. The latest release is v3.06 and it's key new features are:
- Over-the-Air Device Wipe: Delete data stored on a lost/stolen device.
- Improved Lockdown: Permit end-users to only access approved web sites/programs.
- Connection Modes: Devices can connect to servers persistently, on schedule, or when initiated by users.
- Performance: Enhanced performance on slow networks and improved battery life on cellular devices.
- Package Dependencies: Enforce the order in which applications and settings are installed.
- Device Side Scripts: Specify pre and post file synchronization scripts."
SOTI has released an update to MobiControl, which looks like an excellent way to manage all of your enterprise Pocket PCs with little hassle!

Soti makes good products, but their upgrade policies stink. You get updates for six months, that's it. After that, you have to pay. I couldn't go from Pocket Controller 5.06 to 5.07 without paying a fee, which is ridiculous. I can see paying for major updates (e.g. 4.0 to 5.0) and even perhaps updates that aren't full new versions, but add features (e.g. 5.0 to 5.5). But I'm not sure why I should have to pay them for minor updates - what are pretty much bug fixes. That's pretty money-grubbing.
