iMate to Release PDA-L
"i-mate exhibited today, at Microsoft Tech-Ed Barcelona, a new windows mobile device: the i-mate PDA-L. The device is running Windows Mobile 5.0 and has a 2.4 inch screen. The processor is OMAP 800 at 200 MHz and in terms of memory it has 64MB RAM and 128 MB ROM. The i-mate PDAL also has Bluetooth, WI-FI and a 2.0 mega-pixel camera. In terms of size the device is thinner, much lighter but taller than i-mate JAMin. This is one of the devices distributed by i-mate and not manufactured by HTC. The i-mate PDA-L is to be released to general public very soon at a very attractive price."
I'm going to coin a phrase - (Y)et (A)nother (S)ubstandard (i)-Mate (D)evice. This one comes with the requisite blurry photo that we've all learned to enjoy. About the only advantage I see here is the mini-USB connector, and the possibility that the price will be low(er) - it's also got a funky D-pad that's reminiscent of the Artemis, though I don't think this will have it's cursor functionality. Apart from that, there's very little to distinguish this from every other device out there (and much that is lacking to attract WM die-hards) - looks very much like an entry-level WM PDA phone to me.

I totally disagree... Ok, the device doesn't really shock all of us die-hards with top-notch specs. However; name me ONE full PPC-phone-edition with an only 2,4" screen. This will probably not only make the device lighter, but also a lot less wide than an iMate Jam or Jamin.
My guess is that it's also very flat and actually very pocketable in size; just like a regular candybar GSM. And apart from GPS, it DOES feature all desired receivers (allthough not the fastest ones... ). All that i am saying is that this thing just might fill a niche for some...

Totally Disagree MDA was best product I ever bought
MDA is amazing. Only thing I reccommend was that a bluetooth device is the only essential. It makes it alot easier. With the voice dial and all ... I was able to use the device as a MP3 player.. surf the net to any web site.. Incorporated my email to come automaticly.. instant messenger... Outstanding.. I used microsoft office on the unt all the time.. saved me alot of time... Mine is sold.. Im using a TMobile Dash .. which is OK.. but I am online awaiting the new upgrade to the MDA. I heard the camera is better and useful ... all the features of an MDA all in all makes it a cutting edge phone. THey also didnt mention the new MDA will be 400 MHZ... the phone will be better.. and there will be more network connectivity to the net making it even faster... it also will have blue tooth 2.0... If they were listing the things that arent so good.. they should mention that it only takes a Micro SD which doesnt have Ultra available.. and is only available at 2 GB..... Happy Teching... anyone hear of any release dates please let me know.. Dov
