Default Dopod P800W (Artemis) Arriving Next Month

http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20061025A9051.html

Asia-Pacific, get ready. Dopod will be releasing its version of the HTC Artemis (P3300) sometime next month. The device features a TI OMAP 200MHz CPU, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, a 2.8" QVGA TFT-LCD, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, a 2.0-megapixel camera, a microSD slot, and Windows Mobile 5.0. If you prefer something with a little more grunt, then you may be interested in Asus' P535, which is also scheduled for a release next month. Additional details on the P535 can be found in our September post.

Nice device, Only question is why is that HTC has to ruin it with slow processor? You run GPS, MSN Msger, and one more application, and it will just crush! I guess when they design it they have only users, who will just look at the device not heavy users.

I agree. The 200 Mhz TI CPU doesn't cut it for VoIP and it is _barely_ enough for A2DP (the rest of the device becomes really slow). I have a Qtek 9100 using the same CPU and I have these problems.

More over, I hate how HTC now does not use normal headphone jacks (and it's impossible to find adapters for the kind they ship), and they have announced that they will ditch IrDA.

Plus, for such a slightly large cellphone (compared to normal cellphones), they should have gone with miniSD, not for microSD. 2 GBs of miniSD for $50 is better than microSD's $80 for 2 GBs.

I read somewhere that someone disassembled one of the devices and found the MicroSD reader to take up the exact same size as a MiniSD reader. Talk about screwing people over  ...

Default I knew it I knew It I knew it

Went and bought an Atom Exec Monday - then the Artemis arrives...

Oh well, with an Intel 520 vs an OMAP 200 I think I win anyway.

I agree what is with micro SD, they gotta be nuts
OR
get incentives (shall we say) from the memory card makers

Oh well if anyone gets one of these at least it has an FM radio.
