Default iLauncher V3.0 Reviewed

http://solsie.com/?p=932

"iL (abbreviation for iLauncher) is a Today plug-in that helps you to create icons (shortcuts) for your applications, folders, control panel applets, meters, radio/TV stations, playlists,etc..These icons can be organized by several tabs and displayed in several modes on your today screen for easy access. This utility provides not only visual enhancement but comes with fully packed with functionality"

After the Version 3 upgrade to iLauncher, with its oodles of goodies, a review of the new functionality is most welcome. SBSH are well on the way to providing a product that competes really effectively with SPB's Pocket Plus, though personally I think this one-upmanship between these two software houses might be going a little far. Whatever your thoughts on the subject, iLauncher is a solid product with the usual fantastic SBSH support behind it. You can purchase a copy or give it a shot at our affiliate store.

Absolutely worth it! There are many others out there for launching, but you really need to try this one! It's a must have on my list! And if you like weather, you should look at SBSH pocket weather too. Simply the best of both worlds.

AND support! Out of all the companies out there that I have recieved support from, SBSH has got to be almost the best out of everyone. They worked with me on an issue that I had until it was resolved and went above and beyond to help me solve it. They actually cared about getting me up and running.

I have a perfect "10" for this company and it's products. iLauncher will start you out perfectly!

I use products from both SPB and SBSH, and I like them both. I'd say their competition is heallthy for us consumers as it gives us choice, and I believe, pushes innovation.

To call it upmanship is rather crude and unwarranted.

It basically started when SPB copied/ripped off/were inspired by (depending on who you talked to) Pocket Breeze with SPB Diary. Now it seems SBSH are using iLauncher to compete with Pocket Plus.

As do I - I've got almost the whole range of SBSH products, and quite a few of SPB's as well. I find both companies offer great products at competitive pricing, and great service too.

I've heard it called worse :? it may be a little crude, but I will not say it's unwarranted.

This is the problem as I see it - this competition isn't really pushing innovation. I loved iLauncher the simple program launch plugin - it was exactly what I wanted. I don't need nor do I want the extra functionality that comes with Pocket Plus. Adding all that stuff in just creates program bloat, and potential for software conflicts. It's great for somebody who wants an all-in-one plugin - I'm not one of them. My fear is that they'll focus too much on what the other is doing, and not on what matters - what the customer wants/needs.

I trialled Pocketbreeze a few times, v4 & v5, but somehow wasn't too happy. Then tried Diary and was immediately taken by it. Not to say one is 'better' than the other, but choice is good.

Not interested who started what, who copied this or that etc.

You can, fortunately, disable almost everything and, with some modules, the given module can be "hacked" out of the entire suite. For example, this is how I use its by far the best Safe Mode module - it's what's the best in Spb Pocket Plus (I don't particularly like the rest of it because there are better solutions for all sub-tasks except for Safe Mode).
