First Pics of the O2 Mars
"After sharing the photos of Treo 750........ my pleasure to show these new photo again. I had a lot of engineering set but still cant post yet. The photo is blur with my own reason but i promise to post super clear when time is right. "
The same source who posted the hi-res photos of the Treo 750 on MyPDACafe last week has got his hands on some engineering samples of upcoming O2 3G models. Among the bunch is the O2 Mars, which will have a sliding keyboard much like the Wizard and Hermes though it appears to be made by Asus. Details are a little hard to make out for obvious reasons, but the feature set will be pretty standard with the addition of 3G (but no HSDPA), and surprisingly a 520 MHz processor. Target release date is for December in Asia, but that's still subject to confirmation.

Very nice. Looks like Hermes (TyTn) just got some real competition...
Especially keyboard design looks nice, using all the available space.
I wander if this is going to be available outside Asia.

Looks nice, especially the keyboard layout.
What I dont get: What differentiates this device from the XDA Trion besides the lack of HSDPA?
Thinner?
VGA screen?
GPS?
Lower price?

I'm guessing it's like XDA Atom vs HTC Prophet. Maybe a little smaller, with faster CPU and maybe additional media SW, but not much more.

o2 isnt allowed to sell the htc models in asia anymore i think, htc's subsidiary Dopod is the one that sells htc units.
thus o2 got quanta to make them the atom so they can remain in the asian market.

I think the fact that this uses miniSD makes it my new favourite device over the Hermes. Design ain't bad either. 8O

Specs probably plays a minor role here. The biggest factor appears to be market availability. The Trion is exclusive to Europe, while the Mars is exclusive to the Asia-Pacific.

Europe?
What are the chances of it being launched in Europe? Or available for purchase here?
