Default Yet Another Orange SPV M3100 Review - From MSMobileNews' Perspective

http://www.msmobilenews.com/page/1406/

"The Orange SPV M3100 is packed full of features, youll struggle to find another phone on the market that offers so much. You would therefore expect the M3100 to be a large device physically; this is not the case however. Granted, it is heavier and larger than your average mobile telephone but when compared to the SPV M5000, a device with a similar list of specifications, youll really appreciate the drastic reduction in size. This device is usable as a day to day mobile phone whilst also performing well as a PDA. The requirements of a mobile device are specific to each user, one thing is for certain though, youll not find yourself wanting more should you choose the SPV M3100. It has pushed its way to the front of the queue in terms of being my everyday phone and it will take something special to dislodge it, well until the next new Windows Mobile device is released anyway!"

The M3100 Reviews seem to be streaming into our inboxes in sporadic bursts (Just like Real player :twisted, and to the collection we now add MSMobileNews' nicely written (and chalk full of pictures) review. Whereas the Wizard wow'ed everyone last year by being so innovative, it seems it's offspring will wow everyone with a competitve feature set and killer looks. Now if it just had an audio port, GPS, VGA, and used Mini-SD all in the same size package, it would be perfect!

The cool thing is that 2 years ago HTC was a blip on the radar. Now they're the one. And I have a feeling they'll be in it longer than any of the old PDA mfgrs were since cell phones are cash cows.

I didn't know that HTC USA (for repairs and accessories) are pretty close in my town

Considering that they were the ones behind 90% of the Pocket PC/Windows Mobile devices ever made (including most of the iPaqs and Dells, all of the iMate/Qtek/Dopod and various carriers), I'd take that as given.

Yeah, but noone talked about them. It was always what HP or Casio or one of the others were coming out with. Noone paid much attention to the fact that they were just farming it out to other companies to do the actual work

A) I wonder how long it'll be before miniUSB jack to 2.5mm/3.5mm plug adapters become mainstream.

2) It makes more sense to me to have a microSD-to-miniSD adapter and then the ubiquitous miniSD-to-SD adapter, rather than just the micro-to-SD adapter. By now, I'm sure most of us have at least one device with a miniSD slot, and when manufacturers don't include a microSD-to-miniSD adapter that makes for a whole lotta miniSD slots that can't be used with a particular card.

But the battery life... ugh! It isn't that great as it is and with that lot included it would be awful.

I'm with Orange and would seriously consider this device - but, I wish the device manufacturers (HTC) would stop messing with the memory card format. This device is big enough for an SD slot - of which I've got dozens. I'm sticking with my 4700 until a device comes out with an SD slot. I guess I might be waiting a long time.

I've been wondering if a microSD-to-miniSD adapter is possible, too.

They exist. There are plenty on eBay, if you search for it.

In fact, if I recall correctly, Mike from Smartphone Thoughts ordered one not too long ago. Ping him and see what he thinks of it.
