More on the HTC Artemis and HTC Trinity
Arne over at the::unwired has details on the upcoming HTC Artemis and HTC Trinity. The former comes packed with GPS, FM radio support, and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, while the latter features tri-band UMTS connectivity, along with the standard Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and integrated camera offerings. I won't lie. Based on these product renderings, I think they both look as ugly as sin. Hopefully, they look better in the flesh.

from the pics, i thought the Trinity was gonna slide up to reveal a keyboard. that would have been cool.

I have been waiting for a gps/wifi ppc phone for some time and really thought the HTC Artemis would fit the bill - unfortunatley it seems to suffer the same problem as a lot of new PPC phones, one step forward (GPS) and two steps back (MicroSD and TI OMAP 200 processor) .
The actual product may be better than the suggested specs (and picture) and I may be able to live with microSD and a slower processor but can anyone explain the benefit of a trackball over a d-pad - has this been done on a ppc before ?

The Trinity looks quite promising. The specs make it look like the TyTN without the keyboard so I guess it would appeal to people who want a thinner TyTN. As for the Artemis...I still don't understand why companies still make PPCs with 200MHz processors :| . I hope the final specs will change. I'd think the absolute bare minimum would be 300MHz with 400MHz+ being preferable.

I have my doubts. No words can describe the quality. It's not hard to combine the two product renderings into one shot, modify the background a little, add a few light layers and a noise layer, and voila.
If indeed it is legit, the lad needs a better camera and photo-taking skills.

Yeah, its amazing how these pictures are always blurry huh. The people take pictures of new, anticipated, cutting edge devices, but they carry a 4 year old camera phone!!

Well at the moment, I am pretty happy with my brand new Sony M600i. I have been using a regular GSM service with it for the few days I have had it, but I today signed up with Three, one of our UMTS providers

Yeah, being only GSM900/1800/1900 + 2100 UMTS restricts usage in the USA. I have to say that it is one of the benefits of living in Australia. We can use basically all the Europe phones here (except Japan of course).
