New City Database in Spb Weather 1.6
Those of you using Spb Weather 1.5 may have noticed Spb's interesting decision to remove the popular weather.com source. The end-result? Close to zero support for cities worldwide. That has now changed with today's release of Spb Weather 1.6 with support for over 4000 cities using the GisMeteo source. I just tested it out by plugging in a few cities around my area, and its accuracy is comparable to that of the weather.com source. The update also features improvements in the download engine. Spb Weather 1.6 is a free update for existing v1.x users. If you've yet to try it, you can download a free trial version and purchase the full version from our affiliate software store.

I never understood this program. Isn't it missing one vital component of a weather program? Displaying the CURRENT temperature?

Maybe that's the other reason?
I recently purchased the v1.5 release and am finding this very useful. Traveling for my job every week, it's nice to know what weather to expect from planning what clothes to pack to trying to anticipate conditions for driving to my clients' office the next morning.
Keeping about a week's worth of forecast to-hand is very nice. And it's this caching approach that's quite the opposite of providing current information. Although I have an unlimited data plan myself, not everyone does; capturing the data when syncing is the best (if not) only approach for a lot of people.

There are plenty of other applications which offer current temperatures.
Some people prefer forecast applications, and for them, Spb Weather works well. In addition, it integrates with Spb Diary, which is a plus.

When Spb still used the weather.com template, I could get 14-ish days of forecasts for my location in a download. Then they dropped that source and I had to go with a weathernetwork template from pdagold.com to get my location, and that had only seven days of forecasts with higher data consumption per download. The new gismeteo source still does not have my location so I still need to use the pdagold template. Do you know if/when they may reimplement the weather.com source?

I've noticed a drop in the number of days as well. I used to get around 14 with weather.com, but I'm only getting 5 with GisMeteo.

Only one to offer configrable weather source
For me (living in the UK) this is the best weather app out there. The killer is being able to get my weather direct from any "Local" weather source. In my case bbc.co.uk. weather.com and the like that other programs use are almost "always" wrong with the UK weather forecast.

Wow, the forcast for my city is way off. It has rain for the next 3 days solid but weather.com has it for today and tomorrow morning as did my local tv station this morning. Plus the temperatures were all off by about 2-5 degrees every day. not good. I am gonna stick with the user made weather.com template.
