Default Mobile Compia PDA for the Day Trader in Korea

http://aving.net/usa/news/default.a...=0&btb_num=5470

"Mobile Compia unveiled its new PDA optimized for stock trading 'MC-7000'. It has a touch screen 3.5-inch wide LCD and you can make a call using CDMA network. The company said that users who have accounts in WOORI Investment & securities Company can be provided the MC-7000."

A PDA device optimized for day traders? There is no known forecast to bring this to the US but day traders are typically pretty hardcore about having all the latest information available at their fingertips. I could easily see where companies like TD Ameritrade or Scottrade would benefit from offering this to their most active customers (trust me, it could probably pay for itself in no time). Anyway, this is a WinCE 5.0 device (not be confused with Windows Mobile) and is outfitted with a 312MGz XScale processor, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, CDMA connectivity, and a 3.5" screen (yeah, it only looks like it's about 5").

Wow. And the revolution in trading continues. I imagine why there is a question of market here in the states. Well, I can, but I'm not sure which ones their thinking .

Even though things ARE changing, most people who want/need to have up-to-the-minute trading information (at least in the US) use their mobile devices as an adjunct to their desktops. That means that, when they're away from their desks, all they want is:

--Alerts and notifications for user-defined activities
--A way to respond rapidly to those alerts

That's one of the reasons (if not the MAIN reason) that the uptake of Blackberry devices was initially in the trading community. Using simple messaging technology, the traders got what they want.

I'm not saying that this type of "optimized" device couldn't do all of that, and more. I just believe that it'll have to prove that it offers significant advantages over an entrenched, simple, system that works.
