Default PocketPT.net Reviews the HTC TyTN

The online Portuguese to English translation is a little rough around the edges, but tolerable. In addition, there are plenty of pictures and a video presentation to drool all over. For all you HTC Wizard users, this just might be your next device (if you don't mind the microSD slot).

did you see how fast the screen switched from landscape to portrait and vice versa!!

Still not sure if i'm gonna swap my wizard for it.. i'm thinking the new treo when it comes to cingular because i'm kinda sick of the lack of cases for devices that slide open. and the new treo will definately have a vaja out for it. Why i'm going for a device because it has a better case, i don't know... come to think of it, umts is tempting.

I like Eten M600+ better than this one. It has 256MB ROM and 2.0 bluetooth, 2MP camera and a quad band phone. I am very happy with it.

Having bought and set up an HP iPAQ rw6828 for my girlfriend last month, I got a chance to play around with it for an extensive period of time and I must say the current crop of WinMo 5 PDA phones are much more stable than the first batch released in Q3 '05 like my overpriced i-mate JASJAR. And the rw6828's much faster than mine too, even the JASJAR has a faster CPU. To put salt on the wound, there is also much more usable ROM space for applications.

Whining aside, I'd have already placed an order for HTC TyTN should they have made a better decision to use miniSD (it has faster cards from the 60x Ultra II to 150x) and a 2.8" VGA (like the new Sharp one). Oh well, I guess I'll patiently wait for either HTC to release an update to HTC Universal in '07 or Sharp to come up with a quad band/UMTS W-Zero3.

Until it comes with GPS in addition to everything else, I'll wait.

It's a shame there's no VGA screens on modern PPC PEs even though the JasJar and W-ZERO3 have demonstrated its viability. Anyways, it's got everything I want and it'll probably be my next device. The $1570.00 CAD on ExpanSys is slightly too steep though 8O .

I don't think I'll be upgrading until I can find a device that has the following specs:

Quadband
WiFi b + g
Bluetooth 2.0 (
VGA SCREEN
625 Mhz+ Processor Speed (Or 400 Mhz Dual Processors)
SD card preferred (but Mini or Micro is okay)
Microsoft Exchange/Push Email built in (no need to wait around for the carrier to update the ROM those slow b@stards!)
At LEAST 128 MBs of ROM (prefer 256+)
At LEAST 128 MBs of RAM (stop with this BS 64 MBs! I want a power house of a multitasking PPC Phone without having to babysit RAM and running programs!)
UMA & UTMS!!
2.0 MP+ Video Camera on the front for Video conferemcing!
3.0 MP+ Video Camera on the back for taking pics and video.
Smallish, lightweight, thin. (I couldn't care less about a keyboard.)
Long lasting battery!

Until then I'll keep what I have and wait. Nothing out right now or coming out in the near future has what I'm looking for so I see no reason to upgrade.

3G good. Start and OK buttons good. 400mhz processor good. Scroll wheel fantastic.

MicroSD bad. Proprietary Audio Jack bad.

And anyone know what that circular button above the call button is? The one with the eye and handset?

All in all though, not enough of a step up to temp me into upgrading my Wizard.

I tried the current MDA (aka wizard) and I hated it because of its slow processor, its short stylus, its much reduced ROM capacity for storage and its woefully functioning speaker phone. TyTN will afford me the opportunity for an upgrade from my old reliable XDA II.
Kay.
