Early Review of the Upcoming O2 Xda Atom Exec
MrPalm.com has just taken O2's Xda Atom Exec for a spin. Unfortunately for most of us, the review is in Thai, but there are still plenty of pictures available for viewing. On the outside, you may notice the matte finish, which is O2's solution to the notorious fingerprint marks that plagued the original Xda Atom. Within the shell, the Exec packs a faster processor (520MHz) and more ROM (192MB). And as you'd expect, this one is only for release in the Asia-Pacific.

Specs are incredible. Even the battery looks to be more than sufficient.
I ache to rip the guts out of that thing and stick them inside my XDA Exec.

Yes, Pacific includes Australia and New Zealand. We've always had the Xda Atom ( http://www.seeo2.com/), so expect the upgraded Exec version really soon.

The device look like a preproduction. The actual Atom Exec has another one difference from Atom, the lower right function key. While the Atom has the key as O2 Media Plus, the Atom Exec has this button as Messaging.
Take a look at this one from Pocket PC Thai.

Yay! hooray for fasster processors! I have an iMate JAM and eventhough it seems to have the same processor as my now sleeping Ipaq 2210, It seems a LOT slower!
I would trade 1 day batt life for my PDA phone for being able to have zippy performance.
JASJAR is nice and fast, but can anyone say "Imperial Star Destroyer"
and "cheap laptop"??

Unfortunately, although Asia-Pac includes NZ and Australia, you cant get a O2 Atom in New Zealand --- no one stocks them and there does not seem to be a distributor here for them.
I'd buy one otherwise. I almost bought a O2 Atom while in Australia a couple of months ago except the store said it would have to be return-to-australia for warranty purposes if anything went wrong.

Yeah, I heard about that recently actually. On the bright side, you could settle for HP's alternate offering, the iPAQ rw6828, which should be making its way on to your shelves shortly.
