Default EZdial 2 Released

http://www.mesoftware.biz/ezmain2.htm

"EZdial is an AMAZING phone utility which comes to extend the default phone application in the PocketPc phone devices. This utility makes it a lot easier to dial and search contact and using speed dial numbers. EZdialis featuring predictive text technology. by just pressing the first 2 or 3 letters of a name you can reach any contact number you have in memory and dial it in a press of a button. "

We Looked at EzDial last year, and now Version 2 is out with WM5 Support! Check it out if you're looking for a dialer replacement.

WM2003SE Smartphones have dial by name enabled out of the box. So WM5 phone edition devices don't have the dial by name capability?

They should... at least the Cingular 8125 device I've been testing does. The big difference above (from what I can see) is that big tabs are used to display the names making it a little more finger-friendly.

The dial by name on the 8125 is the same one that comes on all the wizards. It was written or purchased by HTC, it is not a microsoft thing.

Is it windows that does it on the smartphone or is it some third party app as well?

If the smartphone does it with out third party software i don't see why they haven't put it into the ppcpe yet.

That's interesting. My MDA has an easy-to-use "Dial-by-name". And I realize it's HTC as well. I always thought it was a Microsoft feature. Anyway

My JasJar has only an HTC "smart dialer" that doesn't make use of the alpha portion of a keyboard and only filters the #'s in your contacts when dialing a *number* to show you a selectable list of possible numbers you might be trying to dial, which is pretty worthless (if you know the number, you don't save much time selecting it from a list when you're entering it). I'm glad to see an app like this, I'll give it a shot.

EZdial 2 has also "picture dial" feature (dilaing a contact by its picture), supports many languages, assign a button to toggle vibrate, hardware button shortcuts to history and speed dial (same as it was in 2003SE) and vibrate on key press for easy dialing feedback.

The 8125 does not have a dial-by-name feature. It has a dial by number feature which is stupid really.

This software is awesome for the dial by name feature, but I can't figure out how to make it "dial-by-picture" as it states it can do on the developer's homepage. Pressing up gives me my speed dial list by no pictures...

Speaking of pressing up, the D-pad shortcuts are worthless as the 8125 already does these shortcuts and more with the 2.25 ROM.

I will keep it if for only the dial-by-name feature. VERY QUICK!! Only thing on my 8125 that is quick really.....

D-pad shortcuts, for those that didn't know...(in phone app only)

Right - Contacts
Left - Messaging
Up - Speed Dial List
Down - Call History

This does not work on my 8125. Is there a setting for it or something in the registry?

Thanks,

Andy
