Default Windows Mobile Device Center Update Available for Windows Vista Beta 2

http://hive.net/Member/blogs/the_in...ta-2_2100_.aspx

"Tonight, a update to Windows Vista Beta 2's Windows Mobile Device Center has gone up on Windows Update. This update gives the Windows Mobile Device Center full capability of syncing your Windows Mobile Phone or Device with Outlook. It even supports OneNote 2007 Mobile as well. It offers an impressive UI arrangement giving you full access to syncing your device and accessing its files. It even tells you how many images you have on your Mobile Device when you move your mouse over "Photos, Music and Video"."

A problem I, and many others had with Beta 2 of Windows Vista was the lack of PIM data sync functionality when a Pocket PC or Smartphone was connected to the Windows Mobile Device Center. But according to a report at The Hive, that functionality is now available, thanks to an update for the Device Center that was released yesterday. I'm in the middle of a computing setup shuffle, so I don't have Windows Vista on any of my computers at the moment, but I hope to reinstall it next week to test out the new sync features.

For those of you currently using Windows Vista, download the update (via Automatic Updates) and sync your device with the Windows Mobile Device Center, and then let us know what you think. I'll post my findings in a few days time.

Default Experience with new Vista Sync Client

I had no problem installing the upgrade but it will not sync mail, contacts, or the calendar. Strangely enough, it syncs notes. The buttons next to to mail, contacts, and calendars says "Outlook not configured" and gives no information on how to configure Outlook. Outlook is working and I have an account that receives and sends e-mail so obviously this feature is either not working or there's a trick I don't know.

I've also installed software through this new sync software and that appears to work fine. Old programs that are looking for Activesync isn't going ot find it though and hence will be unable ot sync. I've been unable to sync either MySportTraining (Program won't even install) or TripTracker (Program looking for Activesync).

I'm using a Toshiba M205 with Bluetooth antenna and even though the Bluetooth Toshiba driver installs, I've ben unable to sync via Bluetooth or to get a working DUN connection.

I had problem same night it came out. I have posted to many forums and yet to have gotten fixed. Some say it works great, the rest of us have the "configure issue". I have been speaking via forums with some MVPs through MS sites and have gotten no concrete help. Hopefully someone will figure it out.

Which version of Outlook are you all using?

I managed to get it to install and configure fine on a box with a fresh installation of Vista and Outlook 2007.

Default same problem

I am running the Vista and Office 2007 beta with an HTC Magician and same problem, outlook not configured. What gives man, Microsoft, fix this problem please. If they do, that will be wonderful becuase this new WMDC sure is easy on the eyes. I am getting an XDA Atom tomorrow and want to be able to sync my cal and contacts but will be unable to unless they fix this issue quick. Anyone have any other ideas besides another computer and activesync 4...........
Thanks
Todd

Default Major problems with Windows Mobile Device Center and Dopod900

I have Vista Beta2, Office 2007 Beta2 installed including all the updates + the Newest Windows Mobile Device Center installed.
1. I connected the Dopod900 (think it is the same as HTC Universal) and Vista doesn't recognize the device, says something about the driver not found.
2. tried turning off all firewalls etc. including Antivirus and then connecting, same result. No driver is found.
3. installed Activesync4.1 (knowing it will not work). Of course Activesync could not be started, but after connection, the driver is now found. Mobile Device Center starts up but on the screen it only shows a Mobile Device Settings with Connection settings under it - it only allows you to click sync via USB and then either Bluetooth or IR etc. Ultimately it start trying to connect and the connecting icon on the lower left of Mobile Device Center starts turning but eventually failing and showing a red X stating ERROR.
4. I try uninstalling Activesync4.1 which damages Mobile Device Center and no longer is able to even start. So I install Activesync4.2Beta instead and then reinstall the Mobile Device Center and then try the connection. Device Center now starts up again and the same situation repeats itself and ultimately fails.
5. I reinstall Office 2007Beta2 and go through the proceedure and still same result.
6. unistalled Mobile Device Center then did a new Windows Update and download MDC again install and go through process multiple times to same result.

I am totally stumped and left with last option to completely reinstall Vista Beta2 again and try from scratch. However, before I do that I am wondering if any GENIUS out there has any ideas that will help me. What really boggles my mind is that my interface only has that Mobile Device Settings with Connection settings under it. It totally seems to lack any of the other Device Setup and what not buttons as viewed in the screen shots provided by so many people. Just don't know what the problem is.

Would really appreciate some help.
