Philips' SDIO DVB-H Solution
Philips has a new DVB-H accessory on display at Computex. It's the TV1000/TV1100 - a Windows Mobile-compatible SDIO card with a built-in retractable antenna. If you head over to PhoneDaily, you'll notice that it works just fine and dandy with the Dell Axim X50v, HP iPAQ hx2000 series, and the Qtek 9000. With extensive DVB-H trails proving successful in Europe, Australia, and the USA, we could see Philips' card in the market in the not-too-distant future.

OK it's a pretty cool idea - TV anywhere. I had one of those Casio 'pocket' tvs years ago. I used it twice.
If tv in the USA were not so awful (all adverts and bed programming) I might be interested. Then there's the fact that where I live there's only 3 channels you can pick up with an antenna ...
I'm sure zillions of people will melt at the idea of such a device, even if it does look horribly fragile. I'm equally sure I won't be one of them. I'll stick to ripping my SCRUBS, Northern Exposure, Yes Minister/Priminister and Red Dwarf DVDs onto SD card :-)

I was pointing you to the pictures, not the text.  Quite frankly, I think you'll find it hard digging up an English source reporting bits and pieces from a Taiwanese show. I've already translated the key information in my original post.

Darius , could you please clarify something, these cards can reviece FTA satellite channels? i mean , in a country that no such service is provided by mobile operator , can they be used to watch CNNinternational?

In short, no. It's dependent on who the participating service operators are, and what channels they provide. Obviously, this varies from country to country.

thnx man , well put. one more thing , what about DVB T ? i mean if some device supports this , would it be possible to recieve independantly ?

DVB-H is simply DVB-T, with handheld optimisations, so the same reliance on service operators and channel provision applies.

As you can see, only Australia, Europe, parts of Asia, and North America are "plugged in". As for Japan and their nice pink splotch, well, they always like to do their own thing.
