Default HP iPAQ hw6915 Reviewed at Mobile Tech Review

http://www.mobiletechreview.com/HP-iPAQ-hw6915.htm

"When the HP iPAQ hw6515 came out last year, it wasn't the lack of features but rather the already one generation old operating system and lower resolution display that prevented it from becoming the smash hit the competing Palm OS Treo 650 already was and the Cingular 8125 / T-Mobile MDA would become (though all lacked the HP's GPS). HP has mended their ways with the thoroughly modern Windows Mobile 5 iPAQ hw6915, though the 240 x 240 square resolution remains unchanged. We can forgive HP for the resolution since Windows Mobile doesn't support 320 x 320 pixels and the form factor with front-facing keyboard requires a square display, lest the device become ungainly. Third party software support for that resolution was another thorn in the iPAQ's side. Happily, in the many months since the 6515 came out, the 240 x 240 resolution Windows Mobile Treo 700w has come out and between the two, 3rd party software developers had good reason to update their apps to support the square screen."

The folks at Mobile Tech Review recently gave HP's latest iPAQ Mobile Messenger a spin and thought it was worth 4.5 out of 5. If you've been eyeballing this all-in-one quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth-equipped device, then be sure to give this review a read.

I've been waiting for this device for like a year now. I am tired of reading reviews on it. I want it to come out already!!!!!! If they keep delaying it, I may have to stay with my MDA.

Nice, but I'm waiting for the iPaq rw6828. When is HP going to release it in the states? Probably never.

It sucks that you don't have the Atom either. Seems like Quanta only wants their devices in the Asia-Pacific region.

At this point in time no 3G and no WiFi G = no sale.

I don't want to have to sell the device in a couple of months when I upgrade to 3G. To boot, the GPS isn't even SIRF III.

I'll wait for Hermes or another 3G device.

HP doesn't say whether it's SiRF lll but it has a stronger GPS than many we've tested, and that's a lot! fast lock times and it can even get 3 to 4 satellites indoors in a wood frame building.

I'd love to get one of these to play with, but I doubt I could make it my daily driver device. My K-JAM is thicker, but it just looks less busy and doesn't have a square screen to it. More and more I'm amazed at how I see myself keeping the K-JAM / JasJar pair for a longer and longer period of time - the Hermes and Star Trek really don't tempt me too much either. Come on ODMs - release something that will make me throw away a large sum of cash
