Aspyr Media Releases Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (Again)
"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 for Windows Mobile brings an adaptation of the highly successful PC version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 to PDAs and other handheld devices. The game delivers unmatched mobile gaming and enables a new level of 2D and 3D graphics capabilities, giving users a near PC-quality experience. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 for Windows Mobile lets players take on the role of legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk and other professional skateboarders. Master signature pro moves and hundreds of new tricks including nose/tailslides, nose/bluntslides, lip tricks, nollies, manuals and more. Design your own dream park in real-time 3D, using a variety of ramps, funboxes, rails and more. Drop in to the ultimate skating challenge!"
Looks like you won't need an X50v/X51v after all, if you plan on getting some Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 action happening on your Pocket PC. The new version now supports all Pocket PCs - well, 'all' basically meaning those with a 500MHz processor or faster, which actually does limit your choices down to a mere few, but at least you'll still have a few more options up your sleeve alongside the Dell duo.

I've found the 2700G accelerated game annoyingly sluggish on my "clean" Dell Axim x51v. I wonder if the software-only version will be even slower.
And - why no trial version? $30 is pretty much for a Pocket PC game that can't even be tested before purchasing.
(Otherwise, I like Aspyr games in general. Their Enigmo just rocks.)

Still amazes me that any developer these days would release an application of any kind without a trial. This is made worse by the fact that the ones who seem to do it are the same ones that release applications that will likely only work on a handful of devices and come with a >$25 price tag. Wonder how that business model plays out?

what impresses me with aspyr is that they release software for more than just one platform.
windows mobile, windows, mac osX ... i think that's pretty cool!

Propably the game is simply unplayable - maybe it has great graphics but overall game experience must be terrible and they're trying to make U to buy it only becouse U like all THPS console series without testing. As the matter of fact this business model works pretty good IMHO

You have a point there. Haven't tested the software-rendered version myself but, based on the sluggish 2700G version, I don't have high expectations.

got it to work on a toshiba e750 that is running only at 400mhz and wm2003 NOT SE. I had to install a screen rotation software to get the full screen to work and use the cab file to install it. BUT it works, AND sucks. but for killing time, OK game.

Yup, that's what I thought. It would have bene much cleaner to have an operating system0independent Lanscape view in-app. That wouldn't require any additional, commercial screen rotation app.
