Contact-ing from Birdsoft
"Contact-ing is the ultimate contact management solution for your Today Screen. Do all of your essential contact lookups and editing in one convenient location, no need for a bulky application to load up for every interaction. Quickly lookup your contacts using one of two interface modes, using Contact Photos or using the intuitive List Mode. Filter by Category or Company and use Alpha Search to quickly find the contacts you are looking for. Directly access their website, email or phone numbers. Display upcoming Birthdays and Anniversaries without the need for a dedicated today plugin. All this from the convenience of your Today Screen."

Looking for a new way to access your contacts? Check out Contact-ing - it allows you to quickly access contact information using photos. Cool concept! [Affiliate]

Yikes I have 1500+ contacts - thats alot of thumbnails.
You don't want to see what some of my vendors look like
Truly, I'm great with names, I'm lousy on putting names to faces. I couldn't use this.

It's nice to see some Treo 700w software concepts being extended to other Pocket PCs. I'll definitely give this a test run later in the week.

Did Birdsoft develop the Today contact plugin for the 700W, or just copy it?

Remember PI's had a contact picture list view since last year way before the Treo. No, its not meant for dialing, but I just wanted to interject that.

The Treo's today plugin is just for speed dial. You can use either names or pictures. In that sense, this Today plugin goes much farther. I think it's worth crediting Palm with popularizing some of the ideas, but as Alex implies, Palm didn't do something revolutionary with the concept.

Not sure if its ok to post this but over at xda developers they have extracted the speed dial/picture dial functionality out of the 700w's ROM and made it available to all WM5 devices.... I had it working in the emulator

Yes, the Treo's speed dial along with many other applications including our own Ulti-Contacts and Ulti-Planner(which has had pictures for a while now too) make up the concept of this. We definitely hope we do much more than the limited picture speed dial of the Treo.
And we plan on having a beta of Ulti-Planner 3.0 out possibly next week.
As we have said in our forums, Microsoft has changed and took away some very important things that were crucial to the base code of UP, but we think we have found a way around most of them, some discovered while writing this program and Project-ing. And I believe UP has been working fine on WM2003 devices for the most part, so..... Yes, this has been a painful update process for UP, but its only 1 year. Alex and John from PI and AF have spoiled the PIM world with their update cycles. Of course we won't charge for our update when it becomes available. And we will try to get back on track and "spoil" too...
Thanks for taking a look....

Over at the XDA-Developers site they managed to get the Treo 700w today plugin pulled out and it works great on my XV6700. It was the only missing part and now I have it.
