Default Clinton Fitch Reviews Jeyo Mobile Extender 2.0

http://www.clintonfitch.com/reviews...2-0/default.asp

"With the rapid growth in Windows Mobile integrated devices and cellular phones, the ability to communicate with others is easier and more readily accessible than ever before. One of these forms of communication is Short Message Service, or SMS. Most people simply refer to SMS as Text Messaging. In the United States alone there are 165 million devices capable of SMS. Further, there are 1.5 billion SMS messages sent or received each day globally while only about 100 million coming from people within the United States. Still, SMS traffic continues to triple annually in the United States and is clearly a growing communication trend.

Seeing this convergence trend as well as the explosive growth of SMS in the United States, Jeyo Incorporated has created a line of products aimed at simplifying SMS sending and receiving and SMS management. One of these products is Mobile Extender, a Microsoft Outlook plug-in that allows you to send and receive SMS messages from your desktop PC. Now while you are at work or at home and your Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone or Smartphone is connected to your desktop, you can still stay in contact with those who SMS you without ever having to pick up your device. Sending a SMS message is as simple as sending a traditional email! Further, because all of your SMS messages are kept within Outlook, you have a backup of all of your messages on your desktop PC."

I've always enjoyed text messaging on mobile devices, but when it came to desktop PCs, there were a bunch of programs out there that had to contact some paid SMS gateway and it just didn't seem like an easy setup. Jeyo Mobile Extender bridges that gap by using your wireless carrier and your connected Pocket PC Phone Edition or Smartphone, and makes it as easy as an Outlook plug-in (and we all have Outlook, thanks to the accompanying CD with our devices). Clinton Fitch gives a great, detailed review on how this plug-in looks and works. Of course, this plug-in could have serious competition in the US with a free service like TeleFlip, but it's still worth checking out.

I'd tried Microsoft's free MOSA (Microsoft Outlook SMS Add-in) but it crashed on me. I think it works differently anyways, using direct connection (not ActiveSync) to GSM-only phones via IR or Bluetooth...
