Default The Gadgeteer Reviews the Proporta Alu-Leather Flip-Top Case for the HTC Wizard

http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/review..._the_htc_wizard

"My first impression upon opening the package containing the Alu-Leather Flip Type Case for the HTC Wizard was that I was impressed with the quality. This was my first non-aluminum case from Proporta and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The case is a very supple smooth black leather with perfect stitches. All the stitches are tight, evenly spaced and seem of high quality thread. It also has the embossed Proporta logo on the front, very nicely done and very high quality as well. The box contains the case, an instruction sheet, the belt clip and the swivel screw for the back of the case to connect to the belt clip. The case has that great smell of a new leather product. You can just hold it up to your nose and smell it all day. Quality..."

I can tell you, from being an owner of a few Pocket PC devices that either slide or flip open, it's a difficult task in trying to find a decent case to protect it properly, yet be versatile to use the device as it was supposed to. Stephen Dean at The Gadgeteer reviews the Proporta Alu-Leather Flip-Type Case for the HTC Wizard (say that five times fast!) and has a couple of nice things to say about it and has a lot of pictures to boot, but will it be a keeper? Read on for his review...

I really like my Armor Case from Boxwave. It is much more functional- access to the screen and buttons- and very durable. I've bounced my phone once or twice already.

The boxwave case looks good, but there is one feature I dont like about it. The case opens to the side that the keypad is on, putting the lid between you and the keypad. Why not put the hinge on the otherside, this way when it opens, the top just slides over the top of the case?

I totally agree- that would make the case balance out, and would keep the hinge out of the way.

It'd also be nice if their cradle still worked while the device was in the case.

I had the PDAir version of this case and ditched it after about 3 weeks. The case was really flimsy and plastic that fit around the bottom of the keyboard would stick out a bit.

I am now using the Krusell Cabriolet which does not allow keyboard use unless you take the device out but that's ok.

One of the primary reasons I bought my device is to use the keyboard. I do a lot of text messaging (About 600messages/mo). I'm not going to spend $50 on a case that prevents me from using my device as intended. So right now, i'm still case-less.

There are other cases available that do allow for keyboard access like the PDAir hardcase and the Piel Frama.
