Default Sprint Pushes Out Push Email With New PPC-6700 Firmware Update

http://blogs.msdn.com/jasonlan/arch.../16/552602.aspx

Sprint users will be happy to know that their beloved PPC-6700 Pocket PC Phone (HTC Apache) has recently been issued a firmware update to AKU2. This update includes "Direct Push Email," along with a bunch of appreciated bug fixes and enhancements, such as Cyberon Voice Speed Dial, an updated Comm Manager, and a "Device Lock" Today plug-in.

Of course, Verizon Wireless continues to trail behind with their equivalent update to the XV6700. Perhaps, it takes the engineers a few more days or weeks to add in their crippling customizations to prevent "revenue leaks." In any case, even with all the nice goodies in the Sprint update, A2DP (Bluetooth stereo audio streaming) was unsurprisingly left out. It's still very much worth the download and effort, so check out the active discussions and multiple download links.

Yeah it's Christmas, this new rom has improved so much. Direct push is Da Bomb and I've had no problems over the past day with the new rom.

No A2DP......CRUD! There are now several devices with AKU2 updates. ALL, I repeat, ALL have had A2DP removed from them. WHY?

Please, someone in the know explain to me why the worlds largest software developer cannot develop a simple thing like this that is dependable enough for at least one OEM to include in the update? We wait months, and months just to see it removed.

Raphael, 4 months ago when iMate first released the K-JAM, your own website spent a lot of space covering the subject of how to disable the Cyberon product and setting up the ability to use MS Voice Command because of its superiority.

Why now do your refer to the installation of the Cyberon product to the Sprint version of the same device as an enhancement?

re-read the quote "appreciated bug fixes and enhancements", he doesn't actually say Cyberon is the enhancement, the use of the word "enhancements" in generalized and not specific to Cyberon.

Default A2DP so difficult?

Why is A2DP so difficult to include? I've been enjoying it on my iPAQ 5555 with WM2003, ancient PPC hardware/software now!!

So how did you install it? In the FAQ's that I found you basically have to load it and start from scratch. Some said to do a backup and then restore but others didn't advise that.

I'd like to do a totally fresh install but was wondering how I preserve my telephone information like my number and the other sprint specific configurations. My data is all backed up but I'd just like to make sure that when I'm done my phone will still make and receive calls.

I always do a fresh install of my apps after an update. I've seen others restore backups and some have worked and some didn't. I just think in the long run it's better to start from scratch after a rom update because you could be replacing a file or registry setting that was corrected in the update.
