Default VITO Technology Releases AudioPlayer 1.0

http://vitotechnology.com/en/produc...udioplayer.html

Hot on the heels of the AudioNotes release comes AudioPlayer, VITO's simple um, audio player for the Pocket PC and Smartphone. It supports MP3, WAV, and OGG, and includes standard options such as shuffle, repeat, bass boost, and auto-screen off. You can download a free trial version from our affiliate software store. The full version is available for $9.95.

Default Nice But . . .

Unless this supports .PLS files (like Shoutcast playlists), I'll stick with GSPlayer (which is free). However, this has a very nice interface.

I hope that the makers of GSPlayer will someday release a version that takes advantage of the Windows Mobile 5.0 soft keys . . .

Actually, GSPlayer has a Windows Mobile 5.0 beta that does support soft keys. I installed it, and it works great! In fact, it's definitely a better player than VITO Audio Player.

Check it out at:

Click the "Download (Windows Mobile 2005 beta)" link.

I've just checked out this free player and must admit it is really cool since it's free and for its effects. But it still lacks something VITO AudioPlayer offers: easy stylusfree operation (on PPC). The control panels allow quickly rew/ff, vol up/down, pause. I couldn't get GSPlayer do this sipmle things, all I could do on my Qteck 9100 without stylus is to start/stop playing. And going into submenu (read 2-5 button presses) to rew/ff or switch previous/next files isn't that great and easy after all.
True, in VITO AudioPlayer one of the impotant functions stop is also hidden in sub-menu, but you have to press the right soft key only twice to stop playing. And this is made on purpose for preventing accidental stopping when you carry your smartphone in a pocket.

Did you try the Windows Mobile beta? With the soft keys and the directional keypad, you should be able to do most operations (play, stop, first forward, rewind, etc.) without the stylus. You may have to map some of the buttons, but I rarely have to take out my stylus when using GSPlayer (at least the Windows Moblile 5 beta).

with all this reassignment in GPSPlayer and multiple keystrokes I still think of VITO AudioPlayer as of a better option for playing music on smartphones.
