Yawn, The Benq P50 Is Available... Sort Of
"BenQ Mobile has launched the P50 PDA Phone in the Middle East. Built on the Windows Mobile Pocket PC platform, the BenQ P50 is designed to integrate the convenience of mobile phone functionality with Windows Mobile applications to enrich the mobile working environment."
For a device announced over two years ago with nearly the same specifications, you'd have to be a die-hard fan of them to still consider it. Being a retailer in or around the Middle East would also help, since Dangaard, a distributor in the United Arab Emirates, does not actually sell to individual consumers, either. But, at least you know someone decided to finally kick it out the door.

Expansys has had them in stock for quite a while now. If you're really interested (even I lost interest at one point), you can find it at http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=112410 .

This device is just geting OLD. I really think they screwed up this one. If they had released it near to the announcement than it would have been fine, but its too late now.

Maybe they figured the UAE was the only place they could actually sell 2-year-old technology...

actually the UAE, especially Dubai, is quite ahead of the USA and many other parts of the world in terms of the latest gadgets.
Older technologies would probably sell better in the U.S., given enough hype is generated, like with this Origami BS or iPod

This one should go in the "Who Cares?" column. This device was never that great to begin with and has gotten less desirable with age. When it finally became available to people, those who got them seemed to regret their purchases and had them up for sale almost immediately. I think it is because it is unattractive, late, and doesn't offer anything that the others don't offer.

What it interesting is that BenQ has announced the P51 at CeBIT. The P51 includes Windows Mobile 5.0, GPS, and VoIP...unlike the P50. It sounds like BenQ plans to have the device out by the end of the year, but then again the P50 was announed a couple years ago.
