What's Happening with SlingPlayer for Windows Mobile?
"Recently we had posted the news story "The Carriers have Once Again Pulled Out Their Hatchets, the Victim This Time is Sling Media," which talked about the carriers planning to deny Sling Media the permission to operate its video playback service over the cellular network. Thanks to an email note from Jeremy Toeman, VP for Market Development at Sling Media, we are happy to clarify that the SlingPlayer Windows Mobile Version is on track for Q1 2006 launch and it will be available as a direct download for the Slingbox customers. The customers will be able to watch the recorded programs over the carrier network without any restriction. Sling Media is also trying to partner with the carriers to offer joint service plans and that is the service that the carriers haven't cleared, and that is what the original news story was talking about."
Kris, over at Smartphone Thoughts, has some good news about SlingPlayer for Windows Mobile. It's currently on track for a Q1 2006 launch, and will be available for all devices running Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0. So assuming the rules of logical deduction are still in place, we'll see SlingPlayer Mobile sometime this month!

Just to chime in, SlingBox kicks butt. I use it so I can get CNN in my office. I also use the other inputs to monitor my security cameras remotely.

Yep, I'm looking forward to my Sprint 700w so that I can watch TiVo content when waiting for Dr. Appt's, etc. The kids could even watch the Wiggles if they want  ops:

I can't wait to give slingbox a try but in the meantime I've been using sage tv's new placeshifter client. I don't know if they intend to create one that will work on mobile devices, I sure hope they do but if they don't I'll give slingbox a shot.

I forgot to mention - anyone with Orb and a TV tuner card in their computer can give streaming TV a go.

I am the GM for a cable television company and have 15 Sling Boxes in operation over the various areas that I service. Bought them for the purpose of service monitioring without truck rolls. Has saved more than double the cost of the units (about 300USD each with the required router). Can not wait for the PPC play to come out. Will slap that on my 4155 and be able to check service from anywhere in the world at anytime.
I am still amazed at technology and where we are going with it!
