Rumour: The Pocket LOOX N100
This is a rumour. This is a rumour. This is a rumour. This is a rumour. This is a rumour.
Okay, now that I've got that out of the system, let's talk about the Pocket LOOX N100, which has been the source of much discussion at FirstLoox.org. According to an anonymous tipster, the N100 is a dedicated GPS and media solution from Fujitsu-Siemens with the look and feel of the iPod nano. The supposed specs? No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, it seems, but it does have integrated GPS (SiRFstar III; support for TMC, and the inclusion of NAVIGON MobileNavigator|6), built-in flash storage (256MB, 1GB, 2GB, or 4GB), a 2.8" QVGA (240 x 320) TFT-LCD, USB 2.0 (host and slave), an SDIO/SD/MMC slot, a changeable cover available in five different colours, and Windows Mobile 5.0. And, at 90mm x 60mm x 15mm and 70g, that's even smaller and lighter than the compact O2 Xda Atom.
Remember, nothing is official yet, so take it all with a grain of salt. If factual though, we could see the N100 as early as next month at CeBIT, with a Q2 2006 release to follow on later.

Strange, it seems too early to be April 1st.

I'm still wondering whether I should trust this rumor or not. There has been WAY to much untrue rumor about Loox series (eg. 2700g) in the past.

In fairness the source for that rumour got every single detail correct except the one - and I have reason to believe that the 2700g was considered for inclusion at one point so in all likelihood he (she?) simply had out of date info.
All in all I'm hard pressed to think of what has been rumoured about the Loox range that hasn't been proved all or mostly correct in the end (certainly not that we've published at FirstLoox). It doesn't say much for FSC's security that the hit rate has been so high on Loox leaks...!
I'm not making any claims about this one yet though - the only part of it I know for certain to be true is that there is going to be an N100 navigation solution from FSC.

You can't have a small device with VGA  Maybe you can, but it won't be very practical.

Seems fishy to me, I wonder it it isn't going to be a clone of the Gtek G100, after all the N520 is a close cousin designed by HTC too.

Unlikely when FSC already have a basic GPS PDA in the N500 that has less features than the G100. The G100 has BT and WiFi - the N100 almost certainly won't (or it would be more powerful than the N500).
The N100, to my certain knowledge, is to be a dedicated navigation device - rather than a PDA with GPS built-in. It may or may not be based on WM 5.0 but it will most definitely be stripped right down of all the stuff that might be found in a PPC.
I'm sceptical that it could be as little as 70g mind - no matter how stripped down. Actually as time passes I'm feeling more and more sceptical about *all* the rumoured specs TBH...!
