StyleTap Updated to Support Windows Mobile 5.0 and Square Screen Displays
"StyleTap Platform allows you to run applications (and games!) originally written for Palm OS handhelds on your Windows Mobile Pocket PC handheld. With more than 20,000 applications for the Palm OS platform available many of them free you will be able to do so much more with your Windows Mobile Pocket PC handheld. StyleTap Platform is fast, compact and comes with everything you need. Just add your favorite third-party applications for Palm OS Platform and you're ready to go!"
It's been a little under a year since StyleTap was first released. Just recently, it was updated to support devices equipped with Windows Mobile 5.0 and square-screen displays such as the Palm Treo 700w. Interested in trying it out? You can download a free 14-day trial version here. The full version costs $29.95, and will include a free upgrade to v1.0 when it is released.
On a side note, the StyleTap Support page is worth a read as it contains a lot of frequently asked questions.

This will be very popular if Palm OS dies. A lot of Palm users might be interested to move to PPC and buy this to help them to migrate
It would of been helpful for me 4 years ago.

So isn't this like running a Mac emulator on your PC?

Pretty much. It works, but still has a few limitations here and there.

Not really. This could actually be useful.

I think you are correct Palm will die but Plamers will move on to the new Lixuix/Palm devices not WM. I personally don't understand why you would want to run palm os apps on a WM device. Why not just buy a Palm?

Yeah, but I think most Palm folks are the business genre, and I sure don't see those guys using Linux/Unix. Diehards will avoid M$ and WME, but John Q Public will probably just move on to WME devices, if they don't stick with Treos.

Because you can have two devices in one?
Some things MUST be done on a Palm. For example, the game Edge (of which the screenshot is also included in the animated GIF in this article) runs much better on my old Palm Zire 71 than even on my high-end Pocket Loox 720 or x51v, let alone my iPAQ 2210 (see my direct comparison at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...349&more=1 if interested). Other, not that resource-intensive apps/games run almost flawlessly, esp. on VGA Pocket PC's (so that you can run HiRes-mode stuff - HiRes+, that is, 320*480, is still not supported by Styletap, which is a particularly sad thing.)
