Pocket PC Dubai Reviews the i-mate JAMin
"The JAMin has a lot going for it and in a way it's almost complete. Unfortunately, the only thing that can pull it down from claiming the crown is its relatively slow processor. Compared to the JAM, all I can says it that its 3 steps forward and one step backward."
It has only been a few days since the i-mate JAMin (HTC Prophet) was released, and the folks at Pocket PC Dubai already have a detailed review of the device up on their site. Check it out.

very impressive i must especially the presence of SD support and IrdA.. not that a big deal but most people just like to have it with them for communicating say probably with an older Nokia phone... now dont ask me why.
i was extremely disappointed by the processor though[the OMAP 850 200 Mhz processor clocked at 195 Mhz]....and may i say here that extremely is an understatement and it would have killed them to place a 400 Mhz processor under the hood.
anyways who am i to crib.
i beseech u Sir Darius that us lesser mortals ought to be blessed with a comparision of the ETEN M600/ K- JAM/ i-mate JAMin... i know thats asking too much of u but see if something can be done about it. wont u Sir Darius ?? :devilboy:

I just ordered a copy from Expansys.co.uk and it is in the mail.
Personally I always loved the look of the original Jam and just felt it needed WiFi and better battery life.
Anyway if you intend to do some processor intensive tasks like watching DivX movies while taking calls or perhaps running some high grade emulators then something like the O2 Atom is probably a better choice. Then again how important is that really?
I personally value battery life and form factor above anything else so the Jamin seems to fit the bill perfectly, or until something better comes along in 6 months.

Pocketpcdubai.com called for a boykott of all danish products on its frontpage this week. Since the controversy actually dates back 3-4 months and media in the UAE and Saudi Arabia tend to be state controlled, this looks like an orchestrated campaign against freedom of press.
Which makes me really furious is that the editor didnt bother to condemm the ongoing violence against european ambassys and people living in the arab world. Already several people have died during the protests (mostly demonstrators). This nonsense has to stop!
And pocketpcdubai, while it has every right to call for such a boycott, should come out in similarly strong language against any form of violence.
I am posting this here, since comments were not allowed on this topic there (telling, isnt it?) and I just saw the link to their story here.

So from one Prophet to another.
No really. What has the Danish Cartoon debate got to do with this forum?

Well, I am sure you would think different if some PPC site like PPCT would call for a boycott of products of YOUR country and support a climate in which violence against you and your contrymen thrives.
It is pocketpcdubai which politicized the PPC community. Therefore it is a legitimate point of discussion of wheter other PPC sites should still link to stories there. If they decide to strongly condemm the violence against danish people it would be a completely other story. But they didnt!

When the Danish government refused to apologize I published our announcement thats why it was late.

If you are following the news on Pocket PC Dubai you will already know that Pocket PC Dubai does not endorse violence or any kind of harsh behaviour against any living being. Due to that we will amend our announcement soon!

Yes, to prevent war caused by comments from anti Islam radicals and from Islamic extremists as well.
It is true we dont discuss religious or political matters in our forums. This was an announcement to highlight our position against these acts because we cannot totally be disconnected from what is happening around the world, the same thing we done when there were natural disasters and terrorist attacks. Members of our community couldve been affected (directly or indirectly) by these events and acts.
Regards,
Mohammed

While nothing in this thread has gone "too far", I would caution all involved that this forum is no place for political/religious discussion. I understand this is a sensitive issue, but this is not the right place to discuss it. Please tread lightly - I do not want to have to lock this thread.
