Default HP iPaq hw6500 GPS Driver Update + GlobalLocate Support Site Launched

http://www.globallocate.com/mobile/downloads.html

GlobalLocate is the maker of the GPS module fitted into the HP iPaq hw6500 and they've launched their own website, which should currently be of greatest interest to current iPaq hw6500 owners as you should (theoretically) be able to get GPS-specific updates directly from them without having to wait for those pokey HP ROM updates.

Strangely enough, while the new site provides details and installation steps regarding the latest 1.28 GPS update, the update itself does not appear to be provided anywhere. Worry not! You can find a download link within the following GPS Passion thread (3rd post from the top).

The thread actually gives the 1.27 update. I installed it and all went smoothly. I haven't really tried it out yet. It does change the little icon in the lower right of the start page a bit.

Default Help!!!!!

Don't use this update!!!!! I used it on my HW6515. After soft reset the icon disappears from the today screen and when you launch Tom tom it will not find the GPS receiver. The only way to fix this is to disable the today icon in GPS Settings, soft reset and re enable the today icon. This then alllows you to use it However when you reset again it will "lose" the receiver again until you go through the process detailed above.

I have not observed this problem myself but I don't use Tom Tom either.
