Default A Major Performance Boost in SBSH PocketBreeze 5.0.10

http://www.sbsh.net/forums/index.ph...?showtopic=8764

"With this new version you will find lots of new changes that we've been working on for a long time now, but the main change that we've been focusing about for this update is making PocketBreeze work and load much faster. With the new update we've completely re-written PocketBreeze's whole PIM information loading code (code sections that read the appointments, tasks and contacts information from the OS databases) using much better methods that read the information much faster."

A new version of SBSH PocketBreeze 5.x has been released. It features eleventy-two bug fixes, with the most important fix being a major performance boost. v5.0.10 should be two to three times faster than the original v5.x release. So, if you're an existing user, grab it because it's a free update. If you're new to PocketBreeze, you can download a free trial version, or purchase the full version for $14.95 from Handango. A performance boost can only be a good thing. I can't wait to try this out.

I wonder if this being a main focus has anything to do with many people opting to forgo plugins due to system slowdown?

Either way I"m looking forward to it.

I have just installed it but on my HX4700 it rather seems slower than the previous version (to load during the boot and to use). Very surprising given the speed increase that many people seem to appreciate on their PDA. I use PI as my agenda.

Hi Murat

I've just posted my reply to this on our forums to your post there.

I will follow-up with you on our forums as I've already posted my reply there and I don't want to create any confusion with a duplicated discussion on this

Just want to pipe in with my two cents that I have noticed a significant speed increase with this version on a K-Jam.

While I'm here, I might as well provide an unsolicited testimonial that Amit and the team at SBSH are some of the most dedicated developers that I have dealt with in my many years messing with PPC's. Responses are fast on their forums and releases of updates are frequent. If you haven't tried their software yet, you should.

Just installed 0.10 and it DOES load a lot faster after a soft-reset than the old 0.0.1 did, and switching tabs is nearly instantaneous for me, unlike the previous version. It looks like there's still truth in advertising after all.

Thank you again, Amit! Great program, and it's bloody useful for organizing my Today page.

How many is that anyway? Is that 112 or 13? Just wondering if that was a joke or if people really count like that somewhere. 8O

Many thanks haesslich for the follow-up on the new version, it is great to hear that indeed things are working much faster for you with this build so it was worth all the hard work for this new update.

We've also located the cause for the slow-down for some of our users that reported that things are not working faster for them with this version and we will have this also resolved for them with an upcoming update in the next few days
