Default Use Your Pocket PC as a Remote Control for Windows XP Media Center Edition

http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/for...wforum.php?f=59

While the PPC Tablet 3.0 contest was running last week, I decided to write a Media Center plug-in for the application. With it, you can turn your Pocket PC into a fully-functional Windows XP Media Center Edition remote that works over any ActiveSync connection or wired/wireless network connection.

Connect easily: PPC Tablet loads the Media Center plug-in and connects directly to the Remote Control Server running on your Media Center PC.

Navigate easily: Tap the Green Button on the Media Center plug-in to begin. The plug-in contains all the familiar buttons of a standard Media Center remote.

For directional navigation, alongside its on-screen buttons, the Media Center plug-in also supports the D-pad and action button on the Pocket PC. You can also use SIPs where text-based entry is required (e.g. Messenger).

I've released the Media Center plug-in as a free download for all Pocket PC Thoughts members. You can find it in the Downloads forum of this site.

Awesome! I was actually thinking of making a MCE profile for PPC Tablet. Looks like now I don't have to. Great work, Darius.

Nice job! This is great, just as I was wondering what to do with my old Pocket PCs. I think I'll setup my 4150 over wifi as a remote.

Very cool! It is too bad I run my MCE through an XBox Extender...but it would be a good option for with my PC where I don't have a remote. Nice job!

Excellent. Thanks for that Darius. That will come in very handily indeed when my media centre PC is ready.

Thanks, everyone. If something in the plug-in does not work as expected, feel free to ping me and I'll fix it.

Hi,
your plug-in is very cool, but I have a problem.
If I tap on the green button MediaCenter won't start.
But, then, all other buttons work nice...
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Default I also!

This is exactly what I was looking for too. Would be a good use for my old PocketPc lying around. Does anyone know if this works with Vista Media Center, or Windows 7 Media center?
