Pocketinfo Reviews the i-mate JAMin (HTC Prophet)
Asian company, Dopod, released the HTC Prophet as the 818 Pro in December 2005. And according to Dutch site, Pocketinfo, i-mate will follow the same path with the release of the JAMin in February 2006. A set of pictures and a review are now up on their site. Both pages are in Dutch, though you can find an online translation of the review below.
HTC Prophet Specifications: TI OMAP 850 200MHz CPU, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 2.0, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, IrDA, SDIO/SD/MMC, 2.8" QVGA (240 x 320) TFT-LCD, 2.0-megapixel camera, Windows Mobile 5.0, 108mm x 58mm x 18.2mm, 150g.
Online Translation: Dutch to English (Babel Fish)

Not bad. Nice to see a SD slot there instead of this MiniSD nonsense, or (shudder) a MicroSD slot. :devilboy:

I agree with you about the SD slot.
But why oh why do they keep stuffing OMAP procs into these phones? I will never buy anything with an OMAP in it (which may be more accurately dubbed O'CRAP!).
128MB RAM is long overdue. 64MB is not enough.
I guess they never learn.
Other than that, the specs are nice.
Along with these new-fangled devices, I'd like to see a second gen Universal (with upgraded wireless, camera, and double the RAM) - something with a nice keyboard. So far, I don't see anything like that on the horizon.

ur right, but thanks god its compatitor is way better, "XDA ATOM", ya i know that it has the miniSD but 2GB miniSD's r already available, so i dont c the SD card as a problem anymore. & btw, the ATOM's finishing is awesome..

OMAP is not much, for multimedia, but apparently it is OK for phone and PDA stuff, and ATOM is Asia only for now - pitty.

It doesn't looks like it offers much to upgraders... my Jam does pretty much everything the Jam in does, plus it's got a faster processor. As for WM5... I'll wait until the SE appears!
