Seagate 4GB CompactFlash Microdrive from $114.50 USD
"Perfect for professional photographers or inspired amateurs. Shoot and store thousands of digital photos without changing the card. Affordable, high-capacity digital storage. Designed for digital cameras with a CF+ Type II media slot. 4 GB capacity."
I'll usually take a Flash-based memory card over a hard drive any day, but $114 USD for 4000 MB of storage is a heck of a deal - that's about what you'd pay for 2GB of storage in a Flash-based card! Check out our Pricegrabber store for more details. [Affiliate]

According to the item description at Comp-U-Plus store this is "CompactFlash Type II Photo HARD DRIVE" that features "3600-RPM drive with 2-Mbyte cache".
Ergo, this is not a compact flash card. It will suck the battery dry in no time :-(

Sure it's a CF card - it's just one based on Microdrive technology rather than Flash technology. CompactFlash is a physical format, not a storage technology. Yes, micro drives are harder on the battery than flash cards, but you get 200% more storage for the same cost, so it's a trade off.

Jason,
In less technically advanced circles (a.k.a. non-geeks) term "compact flash" is typically usedto refer to a solid state storage based of Flash ROM. Hard drives in CompactFlash enclosure are usually referred to as "microdrives".
I think it is important to make it clear, so that some less technically savvy readers of this forum will not order it expecting a 4 GB flash ROM based card. Or upon ordering it will not wonder why their full battery gets completely drained in an hour or less...
Cheers,

But does anyone like that read this site? ;-) Point taken, I've changed the title to include the word "microdrive" - but I should point out that in my description below the picture I clearly say it's hard drive based.

I hope you know what you are talking about.... I have been using 6GB, 4GB and 2GB Microdrives on my PocketPC. along with my 2GB CF and 4GB CF. The battery comsumption of the new microdrive especially the last generation is excellent nowhere near what you mentioned...

Does anyone know if this will work with the hx2415? I just tried a Seagate 5GB drive and the Hitachi 4GB drive and neither will work with the HP hx2415. Will the larger capacity (2GB CF cards - not microdrives) work?

I use a Kingston 2 GB CF card in my 2415 and it works great. I am surprised the larger size microdrives don't work in this device.

What's the last microdrive that you've used? That statement holds true for 1st gen IBM microdrives, but I've heard good things regarding power consumption with the newer microdrives.
