I can't see the point of this when I have access to the Internet Movie Database (http://www.imdb.com) with much more content and reviews written by normal people. :?:

For me, the value of this program is when you're in the movie store and you don't have an internet connection. You may plan on renting one movie, and see another that looks interesting, until you read about it.

Not that I've been out to rent a video/dvd or close to 6 years. I either buy what I know I like online or in a store, or watch it on tv.
And to be honest, I find the comments of other people a far better guide than those of someone who comments professionally.

I use this software simply to find out the title of the current movie that's playing on TV and its really handy especially when you don't have internet connection. Is there a free update for 2005 version users?

But does IMDB have a mobile version of their site? I love accessing IMDB on my desktop PC, but I've never had much luck accessing it on my Pocket PC. It would be AWESOME if they had some sort of open API so a developer could create an application for the Pocket PC that could access the IMDB data as a Web service - light and fast.

I like the idea of having a locally accessible database of movies, without having to rely on a pokey mobile internet connection.
But all I care about are the facts of the movie. I don't like hearing a "professional" critic's views on any given movie - I can make up my own mind, thanks. And I don't particularly care for Leonard Maltin (quite frankly, I think he's an annoying twit who needs to be slapped now and again :lol: ). But seriously, why listen to a movie critic at all? I mean, what's the difference between a "professiional" movie critic and everyone else in the world who goes out, watches a movie, and then gives their opinion? Well, let's see... I guess one gets paid and the rest don't. That's pretty much the only difference. Well, hey! Can I get paid for doing that? I have an opinion and I LOVE movies!!!
Now if you're getting the same opinion from a large group of people, well, that's a bit different. But the bottom line is, if I have the slightest desire to see a movie, I'm going to. And at the end, I'll make up my own mind. So who decided paid critics are necessary at all?
Facts are good. But only one person's opinon? Next.
Hopefully, this software focuses a bit more on the facts.

I used to love the version of the IMDB database that was available for TomeRaider -- included a synopsis of most movies, the major cast, director, year released, and -- for many movies -- trivia and mistakes. I used it all the time when I was watching movies on TV or trying to decide what to rent. They updated it every couple of months.
They stopped updating it a long time ago, so I don't use it anymore... Too bad...
