There've been several reviews of various incarnations of the HTC Universal as of late, and here's another one. MSMobileNews.com, though, takes it one step further: they've got a few QTVR (Quicktime Virtual Reality) videos so you can turn the device around and check it out in every angle. We need more of that. 8)

I think this review left out one major point. They said that HTC does a good job. However, I am really annoyed that there is no american version of this device :cry: The USA is becoming a second class citizen. How could they leave out the 850 band? I could live without EDGE, though I would perfer having it. I left T-Mobile and went to Cingular for coverage. I don't want to buy an expensive device and go backwards on the phone end.

It may be more accurate to say that the US has been a second-class citizen with respect to GSM for a long time, and is only recently becoming first-class in its coverage and features. It is indeed a shame that the Universal has not been designed with the US in mind.

I own the Qtek 9000 and am a US-resident with Cingular as my wireless carrier. I have to say that the lack of 850MHz is transparent to me in my areas (New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania). I seem to have as good reception as my previous device (the i-mate K-JAM). Had the device for just under two weeks and it remains fully functional as a phone as well as a PDA. Worth the price paid. Thanks to MadMonkeyBoy, too.
