Treo 700w Manual Now Available
https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/forms/blobs/retrieve.cgi?attachment_id=594787&native_or_pdf=pdf
The Palm Treo 700w manual is available now at the FCC site. Just browsing through it Palm has done a lot of neat little things. Just take a look at the Today screen. You can do a web search or find a contact without having without having to launch anything. They also have a battery bar at the top. Palm has made the Today screen quite powerful, so if you get this device, whether you are a long time Palm OS user or Windows Mobile user, you'll want to dig into the manual and see what goodies Palm has added to this device.
One of these items in particular that caught my eye is they have addressed the 7 tap problem (Start|Settings|System|Memory|Running Programs|{select app}|Stop) of closing applications. :way to go: More than anything, they have acknowledged that users will actually need to close applications, something Microsoft has yet to do. It is a simple three step process.
1. Press and hold OK to open the Memory Settings screen. 2. On the Running Programs tab, do one of the following: Select the application you want to close, and then select Stop to close it. Select Stop All to close all of your open applications.
Well done Palm.

Wisbar has nicely addressed this issue of closing oen programs with only two clicks.
I can't wait until the reviews. This looks like it may be our companies next phone. We are currently using Blackberries and although they are quite useful, I am of course a big Windows Mobile fan.
It would also be so much fun purchasing a WM device from Palm.

Why be so congratulatory to Palm over the tap to close issue? They have only implemented what countless tiny free apps for the PPC have done for years now. Yes - that isn't the same as out of the box - but most PPC manufacturers have been including free apps in the ROM to fix this issue for a long time.
As for the various free apps - as pocketdoc points out - others have mnade this a two tap process (certainly it has been a long time since I needed to do more than two taps to close issue.
Good on Palm for the Today improvements mind - though again - any OEM could do this.

Well yes - which is why I agree it is good on Palm for doing what any OEM should be able to do...!
