VITO ButtonMapper Now Compatible with Windows Mobile 5.0
"VITO is glad to announce the update of its popular application VITO ButtonMapper 3.42 which makes it fully functional in Windows Mobile 5.0. This application is specially designed to increase the standard button mapping capability of your Pocket PC. There is no need to pull out a stylus every time you want to perform a routine action like checking your inbox for new e-mails or opening a file from a text editor. You can do it by pressing one and the same hardware button by using handy ButtonMappers features."

A new version (v3.42) of VITO ButtonMapper has just been released and is now compatible with Windows Mobile 5.0. It's available for just $9.95 from Handango, and of course, a free trial version is available. Existing users should visit VITO Technology for more information on their upgrade policy. [Affiliate]

Neither Vito nor Handango have updated their sites. Though they both say WM5 compatible, the version available for download has not changed since August. Which makes me wonder: are they really issuing an upgrade (which would mean that both the manufacturor and Handango have yet to update their websites) or are they just issuing a press release to remind everyone that their product exists? The old version was/is compatible with WM5 up to a point (so far as I used it, which was only briefly after upgrading on my X50v). It would allow two bindings per button. It simply does not know anything about softkeys, which, I would think, would be the very point of making the program WM5 compatible.
If ever Vito does release a *real* new version that allows for Softkeys, and thus is actually WM5 compatible, I'll be all over it.

I want to know whether it will allow the hardware softkeys in WM 5 to be re-mapped and used this way...

Dissapointed in this product. Perhaps it doesn't run in built in storage. My X30 is locking up left and right and the button configuration works, but no macros seem to work. Hmmmm
