Default G100 Shows Up on Qtek

http://www.qtek.nu/europe/products/g100.aspx

"The new Qtek G100 is the first device in the Qtek range to focus on personal navigation. This non-GSM device features an integrated GPS module for complete global tracking. The 64K colour display measures 2.8" to provide a large area from which to view your choice of navigation software. At the heart of the device is the new Microsoft Window Mobile 5.0 operating system supporting full PDA business functionality. The device can be connected via a number of convenient and high speed options such as WiFi, Bluetooth or Mini USB."

Here's a device we've not heard a lot of in recent times. The Qtek G100 is based on the HTC Galaxy, and features some standard specs as you would expect from most GPS-enabled Pocket PCs. It includes a Samsung S3C2440M 300MHz processor, 32MB RAM, 64MB Flash ROM, a 2.8" 240 x 320 (QVGA) 64K TFT-LCD, SDIO/MMC, mini-USB, integrated GPS, IrDA (SIR), Bluetooth 1.2, 802.11b Wi-Fi, a 1100mAh Li-Ion battery, and Windows Mobile 5.0. No word yet on when this device will officially commence shipping, but Expansys is allowing customers to pre-order this device now for $404.95 (USD). But, it is an Expansys pre-order, so don't be surprised if you have to wait a LONG time.

I like the device's looks, and with a 2.8" screen, it must be fairly small. That said, with its specs (especially the pitiful 64mb ROM), it needs to be docked $50-$100 to get serious attention from me. It has so many features, yet it's so limited.

So for $100 more than the HP rx1950, you get both bluetooth 1.2 and GPS built-in. Sounds like a good deal to me, and possibly a new low price point for PDA GPS.

Well, I'll agree and say that the 32MB of RAM is anything but stellar, but what's wrong with the Samsung processor?

Maybe this was added later but now Expansys state

"Pocket PC with Built-in GPS receiver running the new 5.0 version of Microsoft Windows Mobile. Due early 2006."

Way to go indeed ;-)
