Measure Your World Easier with CF+ Based Technology
"Portable data acquisition devices are widely used in industry as well as research and development. Because there are many different kinds of data measurements such as tempeture, humidity, pressure, vibration, acceleration, light (color) and magnetic field, those devices are usually customly designed with sensors to take measurements of a specific kind. As such, they are usually limited in capabilities such as data logging, data analysis and network/communication. Also they are expensive because different measurements need different devices which are all designed and manufactured separately. Our company's main products are CF+ based data acquisition cards. They include analog to digital converter (A/D) with or without amplifier, accelerameter, humidity meter, baro/altimeter, and magnetometer. A new product is added to the lineup every few weeks."
Who wouldn't want to turn their PPC into the nearest thing we have in the 21st century to a Star Trek Tricorder with minimal effort. Handheld Design, Inc, seems to have every base covered for any time of measurement you're into doing. At around $199 - $249 for each CF module, it's also fairly inexpensive to integrate your data collection with your PPC.

PocketDAQ
"Pocket LabView" already exists, but you need to get into programming.
Another possible option is:
<warning shameless plug: BEGIN>
PocketDAQ Pro is a Pocket PC application that allows users to collect and examine data in real-time, and with greater speed and accuracy from devices such as:
- barcode scanners
- GPS receivers
- sensor equipment
- other data loggers
- RFID instruments
- scales and balances
and a multitude of other instruments which can be connected to Pocket PC's using RS232 serial communications, infrared, or wireless Bluetooth; using built-in hardware support or through a CF+ serial i/o card (from Socket).
<warning shameless plug: END> :roll:
The concept of a tricorder is getting more possible everyday, with ever increasing power in handhelds. This is the avenue I expect to take our company in; and create some really great stuff. The potential is incredible and very exciting.
Now if somebody could only solve the battery life problems.
