PDC 2005: Looking Ahead
"Come and hear where mobile device hardware is going from technology experts within Microsoft and industry partners. Ask your burning questions on battery technology, screen innovations, wireless networks, and much more."
A bit long at 1 hour & 27 minutes, this panel presentation of experts from MS, Motorola, HP, & Lenovo. As Kris Kumar notes on our sister site, there are a few suprises here as well. Anyway you cut it, it's a nice thing to do on this Sunday afternoon if you're bored!

Interesting webcast. Funny to see such a strong support for WM from the OEM's and developers, and the tabletpc's guy from Microsoft's rather vehement promotion of tablet PC's and dislike of WM devices.

I was at this session. It was interesting, but the moderator was kind of snippy. He asked me to stop video recording, and asked for no photos, since "pre-release hardware" was going to be shown. Now they go and release the video of the whole session (like they did with all of the PDC sessions).
There were some cool devices shown, though, including my first look at the Motorola "Q", the Lenovo Z60 with titanium lid, integrated EVDO, and a Windows key (!), and the Nextel IDEN WM Smartphone. Everything else they showed was stuff that Pocket PC freaks like us pretty much already knew about.

Speaking as the moderator in question, having our AV team film it gives us some level of editorial control just in case one of the panelists, or more likely me, said something that could get them or us into legal hot water. Obviously if the audience films it, we can't edit that out.
IIRC I'd been up for about 2 days straight at this point which is probably why I look anemic. Apologies for appearing snippy ... I'm really a nice guy ... honest!

Sorry, James. It was rude of me to say that. It was just that very few of the PDC sessions I went to exercised that kind of control over the audience (give the sheer number of bloggers, etc. in attendance). Your reasons are valid and understandable, and I have no doubt you're a nice guy!
If it makes you feel any better, I haven't even gotten around to looking at any of the photos/video I did shoot before you asked me to stop, let alone publish it. ops:
See you around and the next big Windows Mobile event!
