Handheld Financing Gets Better: Mastersoft Money v6

Finances in the palm of your hand isn't really a new concept for Pocket PC users, but Mastersoft Money takes it a step further by writing such a robust and well-rounded program that it almost expects you won't bother to synchronize your data back to your desktop (although you can do imports/exports if you want to). With it's latests version, version 6, Mastersoft Money has added six (I'm seeing a trend here) new features. Quoting from their help file, new features include: user editable currencies, improved user interface, lots of additional options, memorized graphs, charts and reports; new investment calculator, new time manager based on their award winning Billable Buddy, splits, and schedules.
The help file recommends that you run it from main memory, but I found it ran quite well from the built-in storage space of my X30. In fact, I found it to be incredibly responsive, very well organized and, most importantly, it's always with you for those quick entries. The memorized transactions, reports and charts, and the ease of navigating around were also top notch, and exactly what you come to expect from finance software. The only thing I don't understand is a lack of a memo field for transaction entries. In all, if you're looking for a replacement for desktop finance software this could definitely be what you're looking for. Mastersoft Money can be purchased from Mastersoft Mobile Solutions for $14.95 for the full version and $9.95 for an upgrade from a previous version.

Not my experience...
Hmmm, I'm not sure how much you've used this or other PPC finance applications, but the good folks at MasterSoft Solutions would do well to try out a few alternatives on both PPC and desktop.
Specifically, their "memorized transactions" are more annoying than useful. For instance, type in an amount for a new transaction and then type a payee. Notice anything about your amount? If this is a "memorized transaction" payee, your amount now reads what the last "memorized transaction" amount was. :?
Also, when I type the first few letters of the payee, it should inline autocomplete for me so I don't have to pick something from a dropdown box. I realize it sounds like I'm being picky, but for something like this to be useful to me, I really need it to be convenient, and this program is just not, compared to the alternatives. All they need is to improve their entry and this would be a great application.

That would be great, as the rest of this program is top notch. It's like having a full desktop app in your hand!

I'm sorry, Mastersoft, but I'm a dedicated Cash Organizer user!

Why don't these apps do investments?
If I'm going to sync with Money or Quicken, I'd ideally want to sync all my money, not just some of it. Plus, I'm more likely to be interested in stock prices when on the go rather than payee details.

We're always willing to look at improvements. Just enter requests at our site. As for trying the competition, Mastersoft Money was first with Graphs, Charts, Icons, P&L Reports etc on the Pocket PC and almost every other finance app for Pocket PC is based upon it ... please send in requests via our site and help us make it even better ...
Cheers,
Dom
