HTC Wizard Appears at Cingular

A picture is worth a thousand words. Above you'll notice the HTC 8100/8125, which appears to be based on the HTC Wizard 100/110 (with and without a camera). There's also an entry for the HTC 2100/2125, which is based on the HTC Tornado (better known as the Orange C600 Smartphone). No word yet on when these units will start selling, though given Cingular's little slip, I can't imagine it being too much longer. More at Cingular.

Accordig to my Cingular rep, this is supposed to be released in December. She tried to sell us the 6500 series iPaq (to replace our SX66's), but I told her I would not buy a new model PPC phone unless it had Windows Mobile 2005 (persistent storage is the key for me), and she said that Cingular was releasing the HTC Wizard in December.

Anyone have any clue as to what the specs may be? Is this going to be much like the the PPC-6700?

It's based on the HTC Wizard, so as long as Cingular haven't made any minor tweaks to it (which is otherwise highly unlikely), then it should feature a TI OMAP 200MHz processor, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, miniSD, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support, Infrared, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 2.8" QVGA screen, a 1.3MP camera (on the camera-enabled models), and Windows Mobile 5.0. In some ways, it is similar to the PPC-6700 (HTC Apache), though the latter features a much faster processor (416MHz) and different cellular network support (namely, CDMA 800/1900 with 1xRTT/EVDO capabilities).

HTC WIZARD VS. BLUE ANGEL PDA2K
I'm still not clear with all the hype and the reviews why I should want to exchange my SIEMENS SX66 for this unit.
1.Windows mobile 5--seems to be slower, less available memory despite the fact a lot goes to ROM. It seems confusing how you add programs and where you add them.
2.The Keyboard slide out we have now-the new one is bigger and bulkier.
3.WM5--seems to have bugs--especially with ACtive Sync 4.
4. mini-sd requires a new investment to replace sd we currently have.
5.lots of programs not yet ready for use with new OS.
6. I haven't heard much about newer bluetooth to say it's better than what I have with latest updates from SX66 STandardization Project
I'd like to hear read advances
Just my thoughts

I agree with the comment above about SX66. How is HTC Wizard is better? Can someone please explain the reasoning for using the TI OMAP 850, which actually runs at 195 not 200 MHZ! And why would anyone want to buy a mini-sd card after investing in SD and CF cards? I think most of us will stick with whatever we have as all of these so-called new decices are a huge dissapointment: Treo-700, Apache, Wizard, HP 6500/6715. At this point I would onlu consider Mio A701 or HTC Universal.

not at all. think of ROM like your PC's hard drive and RAM as RAM. that's it. 100% of installs go on your HD (ROM or a storage card if desired) and RAM is only good for processing data, just like your PC.

Two words sum it up for me - Persistent Storage. This is something that should have happened years ago.
