Helping Victims of the South Asian Earthquake
As most of you are probably aware, the South Asian region was rocked by a major earthquake just a few days ago - causing widespread devastation across Pakistan, India and the Kashmir region. Unfortunately, the death toll stands at 41,000+, with many more injured. In addition, millions of people have been left homeless. The need for aid is tremendous, and there are a number of ways you can help out. Below is a list of primary international aid agencies who are working to help in the relief effort. Additional agencies can be found here. To the victims, their family and friends, and all who have been affected by this tragedy, on behalf of all who work at Thoughts Media, I offer you my deepest condolences and prayers.
The American Red Cross UNICEF CARE Oxfam World Vision Save the Children Salvation Army

This has been a very bad year for large-scale natural disasters. It's very tragic (words don't suffice here).
I've donated $70 CND through World Vision and I challenge all those who are financially able to match or beat that. Any takers?
[normally I don't like announcing that I've donated to a cause (or the amount), because I think it's arrogant, but in this case I'm throwing down the gauntlet for a good cause...]

Matched, and beaten, though I did it at my favorite "crisis" charity, the Salvation Army.

Donation matched plus. I COMPLETELY agree with Ed and Salvation Army. I have seen first hand where the Salvation Army, somehow unencumbered by beauracracy helped when government and private agencies couldn't.

Thanks for the donations and the link to the Salvation Army. I'll update my initial post with a new link. Somehow, I totally forgot about them.
