MS Launch Events & Basic Deployments
Well, my post title is a bit misleading, but it seemed like a good way to let the developers out there know of two items of interest. First, Microsoft is now taking registrations for the Visual Studio 2005 Launch Event, which is a great way for developers to find out what's new in the VS 2005. If you're interested in registering for a session near you, click on the post title - it's linked up!
Second, NS Basic Corporation has announced the release of NS Basic / CE 6 . Supporting WM 5 and giving an alternate path to PPC development, NS Basic might be a solution for those of you who don't wish to go the MS route of development.
Happy Developing!

It's a shame it costs a whopping $150 vs the free eVB. I do agree that NS Basic/CE is probably better than eVB, but it's hard to justify the price for the average joe programmer like myself.
It's a very versatile product though, from the looks of it 8)

Best of Launch Events - right from the horses mouth!
First off, Jon, thanks for posting this! If any of you are in the "Heartland District" - Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky or Tennessee, then I'll be your presenter. (I'll also be presenting at the Launch events in Detroit and Chicago.)
I also wanted to point out to you that we do different content every quarter, and the next quarter (starting in January) we will be talking about some of the new mobile development stuff for Windows Mobile 5.
Keep checking http://www.msdnevents.com for updates. We're currently wrapping up this quarter, and next quarter is the "Best Of Launch" events, where we take the best content from the actual launch event and redo it for everybody who couldn't attend. Oh, and by the way, if you attend one of the Best Of events, you'll get a copy of Visual Studio 2005 and a copy of SQL Server 2005.
Q1 will be all around Smart Clients... from Windows Mobile 5 to Windows Presentation Foundation... and even a little Visual Studio Tools for Office... so there should be something for everybody.
Hope to see everybody there!!!
Bill

I'd love to attend this, but as usual there's nothing in my area. I think a four hour drive is about as close as it gets.
Hey Bill, if you drive on over to Knoxville, I'll buy your lunch!

Wow, for once there's a Microsoft developer's event relatively close to me. Too bad there isn't one in Dayton, OH.
