An Update on the O2 Xda Atom
Here's an update on the much-loved O2 Xda Atom. We already knew that the device sports an Intel XScale 416MHz processor, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, a 2MP digital camera with flash, an integrated FM radio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support, USB, a 240 x 320 (QVGA) screen, and Windows Mobile 5.0. Now Singapore site, PPCSG, is reporting that the Atom (which is roughly the same size as the HTC Magician) features a miniSD slot, not an SD slot (as some of you originally hoped).
PPCSG has a collection of hands-on pictures that are worth checking out. Note the O2 MediaPlus application has a Windows Media Center-like feel to it. If all goes to plan, the Atom should be released in early December.

Sweet! This looks like the Pocket PC Phone I've been waiting for...too bad I just bought a new cell phone.

OMG! <Drool> 8O
Gotta save now! If you have been using the previous O2 Mini, this would be an excellent unit to upgrade to!

Based on comparison pictures the Atom seems considerably *smaller* than the Jam.

I think that I read the Atom has a 2.7 screen as opposed to the 2.8.

If I recall correctly, it's not considerably smaller. I'd say there's about 5-6 millimetres difference between the two.

I hope its not considerably smaller. I'm not sure how much smaller I can go for my everyday device. 8O
Every now and then I swap my SIM into my smartphone, but its input mechanism and small size keep me from intense usage.

Rumor has it the O2 Atom is made by Quanta and that HTC will be releasing a similar model of their own codenamed "Prophet". This Pocket PC has all the features I've been wanting for quiet a while now. I'd like it if HTC's version would have a matte finish housing as opposed to the Atom's glossy finish, be it black, white or silver.

I need storage capacity and with miniSD's current limitations, it's just not good enough. Bummer cause it is a sweet looking device with some very nice specs.. Except for the FM radio and miniSD, it's a darn fine device. FM radio? C'mon
