PocketNow Reviews the Updated Nextlink Bluespoon AX2
"Nextlink's latest Bluetooth headset builds upon the successful features and price-point of their Bluespoon AX. The Bluespoon AX2 keeps the same external body design, but upgrades the inner workings for significantly increased performance. The Bluespoon AX2 adds support for Bluetooth 1.2 while also increasing clarity, battery life, and the connectivity range to about 10-15 meters. The AX2 has a talk time of 8 hours compared to the less-than 6 hour talk time of the original AX. The standby time has also been increased to 500-1500 hours."
Late last year, PocketNow did a review on the original Nextlink Bluespoon AX earpiece which has received many rave reviews for its size, convenience, and quality. It was also affordably priced compared to some of their high-end offerings from Nextlink that can range well into the $300-400 USD range. Well, Nextlink decided to take that AX headset and make it even better, improving batterly life, clarity, and range. So how does it fare? Check out the review to find out!

I own the 5G and it's a cool little earpiece, but this new little AX2 will be my new daily driver.
From another review I read, it seems to be a great unit, not to mention, offering phenomenal battery life for such a small earpiece. Great price point, too! (especially with the discount I managed to get as a beta tester ).

I also admire the engineering skills, but could never get at ease with their system of fixing the piece to the ear. I hate to run around with the headset in the ear all the time, only to wait until a call comes in. What I want is to put the headset in place as quick as possible, the moment my phone rings and a call comes in. The ingenious way of fixing the Bluespoon in place makes it virtually impossible to do this one-handed and quick. I agree, once it is in place (provided you managed to fix it right), it stays in place and makes a great talk-experience.
However, given my way of using a Bluetooth-headset, I find the more "conventional" headsets faster to put on the moment my phone rings, making me ready to answer the incoming call.

It's not impossible, it's just like anything else - you just have to adjust to it. I place my Nextlink earpieces in my ear one-handed all the time and I'm able to do it in a second or two. Just takes a bit of practice, but it's really easy to do.

I bought one of these and returned it the next day for a refund. It was horribly staticy with my SX66, and when I turned it on it would take forever for my SX66 to recognize the device. My Motorolla HS850 has hardly any static, and is recognized instantly by my device. Also, everyone I spoke to said it was hard to hear me on the Bluespoon, or I sounded like I was in an echo chamber. The one thing I liked about the Bluespoon over the HS850 is that it was much louder on my end than the HS850 (although most of what I heard was loud static).

What kind of packaging did yours come in? My original arrived in a beat up "cardboard retail box." It was awful. I returned it as a defect and received a nice "modern formed plastic package." The new AX is great; my girlfriend usually can't tell when I'm on the headset or not. No static or echo. Works in the car too.

This surprises me. I became proficient at this in just a few minutes and now it's my favorite BT headset I've ever used... and anything is faster than the Jabra I used for over a year.

You must have had the AX. This is the new AX2 which hasn't shipped yet. The AX2 is supposed to improve on the shortcomings of the AX.
Of course, no analog earpiece is going to be perfect. Nextlink is the only company, though, that I know of that made a digital BT earpiece (which i also happen to own) with redundant mics and noise cancellation technology. I believe they're working on a DX - a digital version of this AX2 earpiece, but this won't be available until who knows when.
