Default IPWireless Demonstrate High Speed 3G Access in Trains

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.a...?ContentId=5234

"IPWireless is introducing UMTS RailLink, a network solution that allows mobile operators to offer high-speed broadband connectivity and WiFi access on board fast trains. Passengers will be able to use their WiFi-enabled laptops or other devices while they travel, connecting to the service as a regular hotspot. UMTS RailLink, which is based on IPWireless's commercial UMTS TD-CDMA mobile broadband technology, can provide access to a wireless broadband network even while the train is moving at speeds up to 220 kilometers per hour."

More potential good news for travellers who favour trains. There have been a number of recent announcements about supporting seamless high bandwidth broadband connections at high speed. This particular one uses unused mobile radio spectrum to overcome the high speed Doppler shift and can theoretically support speeds of 400 kilometres per hour (250mph). [irony] I'm sure that support for such high train speeds will come in very handy in the UK [/irony].
