i-Mate News Roundup!
Two quick i-Mate related stories for everyone out there. First, the Register has posted a Reivew of the Jasjar, with some nice pictures. Second, as linked in the post title, Geekzone has information on the charcoal JAM that we've reported on in the past. The new info includes the fact that the Charcoal until will double the memory of the original JAM (To 128 MB) and be priced around $665 here in the US, while the original JAM stays around $649. I'd pay the extra $16 for 128 MB, what about you?

With only a $16 difference I don't know how the company can even think that it will sell anymore of the original Jam's. I would just pull them off the shelves and bump up the memory to 128 or just drop the price by $100.

Oooh! Charcoal!
I always thought I liked silver devices, but come to think of it, I've always tended to cover them in something darker.

I really dont know why these days handheld makers have started using darker casing instead of silver one. Silver one looked so catchy..looks like o2 is also following the treand of HP(like in case of 2003SE ipaqs)

Sod the colour, the biggest problem is they are just too slippy, polished aluminium and a good weight for it's size means I have dropped my Jam HUNDREDS of times, the casing looks like it's been in a war zone.
You have to squeeze it twice as a hard as my Nokia 6630 to stop it slipping through your hands and it comes off much worse then the Nokia in fall, still working fine though, well apart from now when I remove a wi-fi card the earpiece stops working and I have to slap the top to get it going again.
Bought silicone case but it looks ridiculous and bring everything out of your pocket with it, needs a grippy surface, actually got sellotape on it now which helps, anyone know of a suitable product?

Well... Yes you are right about the Jam being so slippery (it even resembles a "Camay" soap bar!!! But at least the Jam is real metal (or aluminum I shoud say).
The worst problem I see on other devices that have metal-wannabe finishes (like the XDA2, MDAII, etc) is that if you use it A LOT like myself, the paint just fades away to reveal an ugly copper/oxide finish that leaves your hands smelling like you just handled a bunch of coins!!!
