Default Schloen GPS-Systems Releases GPS2GoogleEarth

http://www.s-gps.com/gps2ge/index.htm

"GPS2GE is an easy to use Pocket PC GPS application that allows to log tracks and to create placemarks which are directly saved as Google Earth KML files. In Google Earth you can fly along the tracks and placemarks and enjoy fantastic views. You can also log your next holiday trip with GPS2GoogleEarth. So you can watch the trip together with your friends using the fantastic 3-D features of Google Earth."

This is pretty sweet. There are other GPS-tracking applications out on the market, but this comes with an extra twist. For all you GPS-junkies out there, you can track your adventures using GPS2GoogleEarth and then export the data into a KML file which you can then view in 3D using the increasingly popular Google Earth. The cost is $19 USD and a 7-day trial is available.

Google Earth is a nice tool and Ive been using it for a while. With Cingular introducing UMTS/HSDPA soon and T-Mobile rolling out EDGE its now more feasible and practical to have a mobile version of Google Earth. That is one application Id really like to have on a Pocket PC along with Mapopolis or iGuidance. In fact, navigation software that utilizes Google Earth maps but still has the full functionality of a navigation application would be neat.

what would be great is if this actually had real data collection capability.

but then again, google earth is a shadow of being real GIS.
