Default VNC Server On Your PPC

http://www.pocketvnc.com/pocketvnc.aspx

"The PocketVNC server was implemented to offer the functionality of a VNC server running on a PocketPC device. The project was inspired by the SynCE project, that offers an open source synchronisation solution between Linux Desktops and WindowsCE clients. The SynCe project can be found here: SynCE"

If you're looking for a remote administration tool for your pocket PC, or just are a VNC addict that needs to tell others of your VNC W?BIC exploits, here is a neat find for you. You can grab a demo at their site, and if you like it, you can purchase the full version for 10 Euro. Happy VNC'ing!

I've never been able to get this software to work. However there is a free vnc server that I've been very pleased with. PocketVNCServ is written in French but the menus are pretty easy to figure out. The website is http://www.fb2i.net. I've used it with TightVNC as the PC client www.tightvnc.com .

For some reason the colors do not match on the client, but it is only a minor nuisance.

Default Problems

Hi! Thanks for the information. The creator's web page is offline. But I have downloaded the program from http://www.smartphonetoday.com. When I run the program at my iPaq 1940, and I push on the program icon, only can push on "Info..." and "Quitter" options.

Do you know why? I can't configure the program.

Thanks for your help.
Alex.

On your PocketPC (PP)
Make sure you have an IP address

On your PC
If you don't have VNC installed I recommend TightVNC
Run the vncviewer.exe (I've put a short cut on my task bar to launch it easily.
Put the IP address of your PPC or the Name assigned to the PPC by your router/dhcp.
A window should pop us that is an image of your PPC.
Once your conneted I think the Configuration Menu is enabled
Now you can use your mouse and keyboard with your PPC[/i]

Hi! Thank you very much. I have connected the PPC to my Linux Machine, and I'm using TightVNC, with a IP address to my PPC. But, when I did use "vncviewer 192.168.131.201:0" in my Linux console, the connection had been very, very short, and nothingh I saw.

Am I using a correct display (0) or I'll need a new configuration parametres?

Please, this is very important to my work.

Thanks!
Alex.

are you using the vnc server on the second post (PocketVNCServ), the symtoms you are decribing sound like the same problems I had getting the PocketVNC (first post) to work.

the display paramer :0 (colon zero) defaults to 0 so it is not necessary but you can still add it and should not cause any problems.

If you are willing to spend a little money there is some software called TotalRemote which is highly regarded. However it does not use the VNC protocol. Pocket Controller-Professional by soti.net it is probably more robust than PocketVNCServ.

Thanks!!
I'm talking about PocketVNCServ. I can't connect to this server from TightVNC client on Linux.
Pocket Controller and Total Remote needs Windows and ActiveSync.
A VNC serverl will let me to controll the PDA from Linux, but I've problems with PocketVNCServ and the autor's web is offline.
Thanks!
Alex!
