Default PocketGamer Reviews Atlantis Redux

http://www.pocketgamer.org/showthre...=&threadid=5096

"'A young archeologist searches for the existence of a metropolis built, according to myth and legend, by the ancient Egyptians....' So start your adventures in the worlds of Atlantis: Redux. From the Sahara Desert to the icy plains of the Paleolithic, you'll travel the world in search of the fabled city of Atlantis."

Unless you pay absolutely no attention to Pocket PC games or you've been living under a rock for the past year, you should already be aware of the game, Atlantis: Redux. It has garnered a huge amount of attention due to both the lush graphics and the deep storyline. The PocketGamer review appears to start with customary praise of the graphics, but surprisingly, it goes downhill from there. Check out the review and give us your thoughts! If you're looking for a second opinion, take a look at the review that our very own Philip Colmer did late last year.

I think Eric Pankoke is right.

I'm also a dedicated adventure player (played through almost all Lucasarts/Legend Entertainment/Infocom/Magnetic Scrolls titles) and I too find this game lacking. Both Gilbert Goodmate and Fade are much better (speaking of native PPC games and not emulated ones - see ScummVM and Legend Entertainment's old adventures in PocketDOS), as far as "traditional", non-Myst-style adventures are concerned. As a puzzle/7th Guest/Myst-like game, however, it's the best on the PPC (Myst, because it's Flash-based, is technically much worse.)

BTW, I've also written a quick roundup of some PPC adventure games - may be worth checking out if you're into the genre.
